How does one remove the FENDER headstock decal without any damage to the wood?

Is it a difficult process?

Once removed.....how does one re-apply a new decal to the same area?

Thanks in advance..................

Sand paper. That's how you remove the decal. use a sanding block to keep the removal even. Then you may have to spray on a clear finish, and get that smooth again. Then, if a water-slide decal, cut the decal paper real close to the edges of the decal, place in warm water for a minute, then when it starts to slip on the backing paper, slide the decal off the backing paper just enough to get an edge stuck on the headstock (very close to the exact location you want the decal) and carefully slide the backing paper out from under the decal. Then use a wetted finger to smooth and position the decal, and use a paper towel to dab up the excess water. Now, let the decal dry for about 24 hours, then spray a clear finish over the decal and entire headstock. :) Just don't be making counterfeit Fenders!!!!!!

NEVER!

Use a damp Q-tip to gently position the decal then roll it outward from the center from several different directions to "squeegee" out the excess moisture.

Be sure to let the decal dry for a minimum of 48 hours before overspraying with any sealing lacquer or your preferred clear coat.

HTH

Getting a new neck for my 60's Reverse Special....a 9.5 radius......will have to be a Warmouth, or Mighty Mite....and I want to keep the FENDER namesake going on the headstock.

Hey Orville....ideally....I'd like to just get a HIGHWAY ONE Lefty neck...that would save me a bunch of hassle. Do you know where I can get one?
I've tried Reliable Fender and Stratosphere on E-Bay with NO success!
I'm spent from this exhaustive search!
Any ideas?

Be very careful with the waterslide decal. It's a tedious task applying one. Well, at least for me it was. I ruined one before I got the second one on proper. Cutting it out just right to make it look good is tuff too. Not to mention the little"Original Contour Body" decal. It's kinda tricky.

"The Stratosphere" has a nice selection of necks.
