AFAIK serial numbers are not coded like the VIN number on your car, and Fender's are a lot less specific than even Gibson's where you can usually pull out a prodution date and run number. You can look here:

http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php

and you might try a call directly to customer service - I don't know if they have records for specific instruments.

accordingly to this page, your guitar was actually "made" in '76, but there's a lot of overlapping in time periods with these numbers.

According to The Guitar Dater Project
http://www.guitardaterproject.org/default.aspx

Your guitar was made at the
Fullerton Plant (Fender - CBS Era), USA
in the Year(s): 1975

Yeah, that's a 1975 serial number.

Can you give us any of the other numbers? Code on the end of the neck, pot numbers, pickup numbers, for instance. Those numbers would help us date the thing a little better than saying: 1975-ish.
