I recently bought an american strat body that is missing the neck tilt adjustment piece from the neck socket.

not just the set screw but also the metal circle plate that it screws into.

anyone know where i can get one of those?

thanks!

You can find the tilt plate easy on ebay or allparts.

ah, if only it were that easy my friend. i've seen those all over but i believe the are for the old fashioned 3 bolt neck. mine is a standard 4 bolt.

the part i'm looking for looks a bit different. it a circle claw type thing with a small allen key adjusted set screw in the middle.

Maybe you could post a picture of the neck pocket you´re reffering to, so we can tell you for sure what part look for.

that's a good idea and i tried to but i can't figure out how to put in a picture when i make a post. i'm only seeing things to change the font and stuff.

it's the same neck tilt adjuster that is found it every american standard strat made.

mine just happens to be missing.

do you know how to attach a picture?

You can actually get those at Home Depot or Lowes too in the hardware section located usually in drawers that have various hardware items in them.

that is such a simple idea that i should have thought of that i'm going to pretend that i came up with it on my own.

"hey self, what about if i just go to the hardware store and get it there. especially since there is one in walking distance from you house and you go there all the time. great idea, me!"

haha, but thank you for your invaluable advice.

you are truly the man! and you help me with all my strat plus questions!

funny enough it's for a 1997 sunburst strat plus body.

I just wish I could remember what they call those things, when you get them at a hardware store. They have some type of dumb name and there are different sizes. You want to get the one that has the 3/4 inch across on top plate and I think the Allen screw is 3/8th, but not sure on that. I found these in the section dealing with parts for cabinets and fastener.

For those of you wonder what he is talking about it is the device painted red in the picture below:

yes, xhefri! that is the bugger right there!

there is a local hardware store right next to my house that i frequent for drum and guitar stuff all the time. i will certainly check there today and let you know if i find out what the name of them is.

thanks for the link morbe. funny enough, i actually did check that site because it was recommended to me and i couldn't find the part. perhaps i was looking in the wrong section.

i actually contacted fender about it to see where i could get them and they told me that it's usually a piece that is considered a part of the body and is not commonly sold as a separate part.

i'm not sure why the original owner even removed it. they either didn't use it, didn't know how to use it or just plain didn't like it.

as for me, i do like it. and i'm going to get one darn it!

I see now, too, I posted some other stuff on the Forum about these some time back. I have the screw size right there. And again the plate is 3/4 inch across at the top. Here is what I wrote: Then if you examine the neck socket you will see what Fender calls "The Micro-tilt" adjustment screw. this is a basic 1/4-20 Allen screw. One needs to make sure this is in place and below the level of hitting the neck when you put the neck back on.

For the life of me, i can't remember what they call these in the hardware stores. SO funny that fender says they're part of the body and not sold by themselves..... I had to look around at Lowes for quite a while before I found them and the employees had no idea what I was talking about. But for sure at Lowes!

aaahh-HA! i found it online through this thing called google.

it's called a "4 claw t-nut"

it's a mean sounding name for sure.

now i know what to ask for when i get there. hopefully knowing this will make my trip a little bit quicker! although, when i go into a hardware store i always run into about 10 other things i need.

thanks again for leading me in the right direction!

Thanks! Now I know what they are called too. Man I spent some 20 minutes doing Google with all kinds of word combination and came up with zero. Good job man. Those are mean machines. I think they do not come with the allen screw but I do know the one you wants takes a 1/4 inch - 20 thread Allen screw.

Not every American made Strat ever has the microjilt. In fact every real Strat doesn't have it. (JK)

Are you sure you have the right body? If it's vintage correct 54-65 it won't have space for the contraption.
