I can't drive by GC without checking out what they've got. Today I spotted a couple of the new 2008 American Standard Stratocasters. One white, and one burst. I spent a half hour or so playing them, and they both were really great. The burst was just a tad lighter, and since I just got an 08 Tele in the same color, I chose the burst one.

As good as I felt when I played the Tele, I felt just as good about the Strat. Great neck, nice pickups, and the workmanship seems flawless. And it comes with the same nice case as the Telecaster.

I'll post more about how it plays after spending some time with her. For now, here are some pics. Again, it is hard for me to capture how pretty she is. But here's what I came up with.

She's a beauty - and she's wearing that new Strat smell for a perfume!

I had the privilege of playing a new 2008 American Standard. I must say that I was truly impressed. Perfect feel and great tones all around. The American Standard I played was olympic white with a maple neck. The guitar felt exceptional sounded like a dream. I was so impressed that I am currently selling my 62 reissue strat on ebay to purchase one myself. Congrats on your new Strat. Happy playing.

I hope your having better luck with your new Strat than I am with mine. Its in for repairs right out of the box with a defective bridge from the factory. The holes don`t line up and you can`t attach the whammy bar. What a disappointment after waiting my whole life to get one, and I`m 59.

Yes sir, I know how pretty she is! Mine is from 00/01, same colour, also rosewood, the best I ever had! Did you compare it to one of the older ones, I would be interested in knowing wether the "new" bridge affects the tone that vital. Congrats, very nice couple you've got!

Cheers!

The bridge seems brighter sounding, to me, than my Fat Strat or my am Dlx from 04. Could be the saddles, too.

I've got a 2 tone vintage burst on my EJ and it's a stunning instrument.

In my experience, the bursts always look better in person. Photos never seem to quite capture them.
