I got a 2010 American Deluxe yesterday, and noticed that in position 5 with the S1 switch on, the volume is a lot less than the other positions.

Is this normal?

If it's normal, that's ok. I just wanna make sure it's not defective.

Although I have not tried out the 2010 Dlx Strats, I would expect there to be a small volume drop when switching to pickups that are Out of Phase with each other.

I have to say, I found that out of phase pickup combos to be quite undesirable compared to in Series or Parallel. Not a fan of that hollow nassel-ly tone.

Having said that, position 5 on the 2010 S-1 Switching has Bridge & Mid In Series, Out-Of-Phase, In Parallel with Neck pickup. To be honest I have absolutely no idea WTF that is supposed to sound like!
