I have a Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS (Sienna Sunburst, Maple neck) but haven't got around to using the tremelo arm properly yet. Is there a way I can attach or adapt it without having to take it off every time it goes in the case? Any tips on using it would be very much appreciated ...
Thanks

the screw type arms can be a pain when traveling a lot, what you can do is get a replacement bridge blok that takes a non threaded arm, that way you can just pull it out when you are packing it away... also the non threaded arms sit more snugly in the hole so you dont have to contend with having a bit of up and down play in the arm...

Are you too lazy to spend the 6 seconds it takes to screw in/out the tremolo arm?

Using the trem arm should be pretty intuitive, so here are some simple tips on using it:

1. Put it in the hole and rotate clockwise until it is snug but not overly tight (there should be a little screw sitting in the bottom of the hole that puts tension on the arm so it doesn't flop around. The little screw falls out easily if you don't know it's there, so I'm assuming you lost yours).

2. Rock out on Strat and wank on the trem arm to your heart's delight. 8)

3. When finished playing, rotate the trem arm counter-clockwise to remove and place it in a pocket inside your guitar case.

Never, never, ever leave your guitar in the case with the vibrato arm screwed in even to carry it from one room to another or you could be in for a costly repair or bridge assembly replacement-I learned the hard way just from walking from my house to my neighbour's 5 houses away. The guy carrying the case didn't realize that the bar was screwed and let the case drop face down, breaking the arm off inside the threaded hole necessitating a bridge and arm replacement.Vibrato arm removal is an necessary evil for Strat owners just like 60 cycle hum it's part of Strat ownership.BTW when installing the vibrato arm I just turn the screw 'til it just brings up snug and then back it off one turn, that way you're assured that you won't over-tighten.

I found out that it is a good idea to go to your dealer and get a small bag of trem springs. I think there are 12 in there and it cost $4. You'll be glad when you get to a gig and find that your spring fell out the last time you removed the arm!
