Last summer while I was shopping form my 2010 Am Dlx all the stores in my area ONLY had sunset metallic in stock?

The pix online aren't totally accurate. In person, at least to my eyes, the colors/shading looks like something you might see on a gas tank of a custom motorcycle. It's quite bright/flashy and has a definite airbrushed effect. I actually prefer the online pix--they're a bit toned down compared to the real thing.

That's funny, because you made me realize that part of the reason I like the sunset metallic is probably because when I was 19 (40 years ago) I had a motorcycle with a very custom and cool paint job very close to this look. Bright and flashy has got me even more intriqued. Thanks, I had not put together the memory of that motorcycle and this guitar, but I like it. :)

THE DEED IS DONE!!!!
After much obsessing I ordered a guitar. A new American Deluxe HSS - Rosewood - Sunset Metallic. Thanks to everyone that gave me some advice, it all helps. Thanks to The Fly for the tip on American Musical Supply. They beat GC's price plus I didn't have to pay sales tax and free shipping and they had it in stock, ships tomorrow!
Jeff; I'm with you on not trying to save a few bucks and being unhappy for a long time. You mention a 458 Italia. I don't have one of those and probably never will but for the last 25 years I've been the proud owner of a '69 365 GT, black w/tan. I almost didn't buy it, I'm glad I did. I hope I feel the same way about this strat in 25 years.

Drew,
Now you just HAVE to post some pics of the new guitar sitting next to that sweet ride you have! The 365GT is one of the prettiest cars ever made. Just a graceful car with very elegant lines. Always liked Ferrari cars. They're understated with just the right amount of flair. One doesn't even need to see the prancing horse to know he's looking at a Ferrari. What color?

No Ferrari's for me but I do have a 1976 Corvette that sucks a lot of my spare change every year :D

1976 was the year I got my driver's license and that was the car I wanted but couldn't afford. 25 years later, I bought it!

Can't wait to see pics of the new guitar.

Jeff

Congratulations, my boy.

We'll hope to see a couple of pics from your new axe and a YouTube video showing the guitar in action.

You can eventually transform the American Deluxe HSS into an "HSS LT" with a deluxe locking bridge and a matching backplate if desired. Both are available as separate accessories.
