Hello to all my new friends and good morning America. I apologies if any of my questions have been asked before or appear a bit asinine.. I’m just bursting to talk Guitar stuff with anyone who will listen.

My question today is this…I can play Little Wing ( Not too badly ) although lots of difficult stuff for me…However there is a double stop ? In the 6th bar B on the ninth fret and C on the 5th fret. Now I just can’t make that, let alone move to the position while playing.. I know I’m newish but is this just something only the really good guys can do? or am I just a bit short on finger length? My Left index finger is 8CM or about 3&1/8 in inches.. My hand size for a golf glove in medium. Look forward to hearing from you chaps.

To answer some of your replies so far…On the fall I did not shout four on the way down but I did think! “ this is going to sting a bit “ ….on the Photo requests.. I don’t have a digital camera nor would I know how to get them on my computer and then on to the Forum..
However I think I know a chap who does so give me some time on that one.. Thank you everyone for your good warm welcome.

Regards

If you keep trying, you'll eventually get it. Practice, practice, practice.

Mine's not just sometimes, more like lotsa times.
Athough I do admit that "sometimes" it's for no apparent reason.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I've seen guys with some really short and fat fingers do amazing things with a guitar. Don't let your fingers stop you.

It's challenging for alot of us to learn other artists material,(note for note). I learned to play little wing at age 13. Learned it from a book using tab and play and rewind and pause. And rewind and play and pause. And over and over and over. Some material just takes more time to get.

Yes, I'm with what you say. I am trying to play what they call the Recorded version which I believe is the steep end of the curve..?

Chaps.. Some of your postings are going over my head.. Remember I'm a bit of Dinosaur.

Love it all just the same..

I have small hands and must admit that the studio intro of Little Wing is one of the most challenging songs I've ever played and after many years of trying to nail it I still can't get it right.I finally came to the realization that only Jimi could play like Jimi.

Little Wing is a tough song to play because it's clean and mistakes are obvious and to play it right you have to use that thumb over the top and play lead within chords...really it's a fairly old way of playing chords...and in pics Jimi's fingers looked really long...making it easy for him.

Don't give up on reaching for the cords. There are a lot of great medium to small handed players: Peter Frampton, Rick Derringer, Bonnie Raitt, etc...,
Small hands never stopped these people from playing great guitar.
