What else would I need to change if I were to put a 50's RI "road worn" V neck on my MIM Strat (1998).

I like the V neck (really like the AVRI57 but don't have that kind of coin).

Would the bridge have to change (i.e. is the spacing at the nut compatible with the spacing on my current bridge)?

Thanks for suggestions.

Jeff

Find out the nut string spacing with re 50s vs mim vs
Avri 57 strat,
I dont know if the string spacing will present a problem.

as long as the base of the neck is the same width as the pocket then there should be no spacing issues...

thanks guys, they are both 1.650 at the nut (Measured mine and it was 1.650" and the specs for the RW V neck is the same). I guess my question was in the string spacing within that 1.650" but it may be such a small difference as to not matter???

I'm not a fan of the look of the Road Worn necks, but do very much like the V neck shape. My Martin HD28V has a V neck and it's my favorite guitar.

I played a AVRI57 for a few minutes at a local store and noticed the V neck right off and liked it.

Maybe I'll just need to start thinking about an aftermarket neck with V shape to put on my MIM strat... hmm, more tinkering. Pretty soon, I'll have custom shop kind of money in this MIM but it's fun to tinker though.

I don't think you would need to change anything else. The neck pockets should be the same dimensions. As for string spacing, it will be the same if you leave your stock bridge on there :)

That's kind of what I was thinking. Still not sure if I want to go that route or just leave it alone. I've modded the heck out of this guitar. The only things on it that are original are the body, neck, bridge, trem and springs. Everything else has been replaced or upgraded.

Love the way it sounds, but also like the V necks on my acoustics and the AVRI57 felt good to me. Getting a custom neck made may be the way to go on this, I don't know. Have to thik about it.

I don't think I would want to go the road worn neck route (haven't played one but saw several of the necks on Ebay.). I'm just not a big fan of the look. Nothing wrong with it, but it's just not really my thing.

I'll have to check some of the after market makers to see what's out there and how much more money I want to sink in this particular Strat. Hey, always a good excuse to buy a new guitar.
