The originals are typically Fender Supper Bullets 9's.

You can do better than Fender Bullets. Try a set of D'Addario or Ernie Ball Super Slinkies - you wont go wrong with those. And I agree, the gauge is almost certainly 9 to 42..

The stock strings are Fender 9-42s but I'd suggest the D'Addarios over the others as they are much more flexible ,hence easier to bend. The D'Addarios also keep their new bright tone longer than the rest,at least that's what I've found.

Ernie Ball makes an Extra Super Slinky set of 8-38s in a blue pack and the Super Slinkys 9-42 in the pink pack however I find the 8-38 Ernie Balls harder to bend than the 9-42 D'Addarios.

I use the GHS Gilmour "Blue Pak" 10's.
Easier for me to bend the thicker strings. Don't know why but it works for me!
