Hi guys. I was looking for a second hand standart strat and I found a guitar that is natural body. It's produced in 2002.

When I looked fender.com-products I couldn't see a standart strat natural body. I wonder whether it's produced in 2002, or not. it's serial is : Z2139392

I appreciate helping me. I'm waiting for your answers, thanks..

The serial number suggest it's a 02 but check it out at http://www.guitardaterproject.com and also look through this site for other questions.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forums!!

Yes, I know the guitar is 2002. I already looked on guitar dater. But second site couldn't help me -or I couldn't find- Because this site write about strats until 1979. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

It's really hard to tell without photos (I know - tough if you are looking at the guitar but haven't purchased it yet).

It could be a stripped body, it could be a replacement body, it could be a special run for some dealer. I would suggest emailing the serial number to Fender Consumer Relations and see what they say about the guitar.

Sorry, I don't know if they made a natural colored strat in 2002. Maybe someone with some knowledge of that particular year will help you. Good luck!!

Posting some pictures will help too!

Yes, they made natural Strats in 2002. I remember seeing a few around that time when I bought mine. You could also get the American Series strats with a hardtail bridge back then too!

To me it looks like the body was striped.

The current american standard series has the natural ash finish. Unfortunately this option is only available for the Telecaster.

I hope Fender will soon add a natural american standard Strat with a black pickguard in both SSS and HSS formats.

Thanks for the photos; it looks to me like that is an early Highway 1 that has been stripped - note that it has a vintage trem with changed saddles (or a replacement trem). The Highway 1s had the small headstock up until 2006.

Also the neck has 2 string trees - Highway 1s had 2 trees, by 2002 American Series only had 1. The guitar has also had an LSR nut added to it.

It should be priced out as a Highway 1 - with these mods somewhere around $500-$550, maybe up to $600 if it has a hard case instead of a gig bag.

Dear John C, these are very wealthy comments.. thanks..

The saler said that he also had the guitar second hand. My buying will be third hand :) So he said he doesn't know some details. He supposed that it's standart strat and has original colour. Just sure about that LSR nut added later.

You say it's Highway 1.. I want to buy a standart strat, if you sure, I'll give up buying..

Yes, I'm sure it's a Highway 1 - American Standard/Series/"new" Standard have 2-post trems, and the original American Standards/American Series have cast saddles; the "new" American Standards (2008 and newer) have bent saddles; this guitar has a 6-screw tremolo with replacement saddles (all Fender 6-screw trems have bent saddles). Since mid-2000 the American Series/"new" American Standards have a single string tree; this guitar has 2 string trees. Finally, American Series/"new" American Standards have a neck plate with "Fender Corona California" engraved on them; this guitar has a plain neck plate as was found on the Highway 1.

Bottom line: Highway 1 with these mods: LSR nut, replacement bridge saddles, and possibly the finish was stripped. There is a "nearly natural" finish for the Highway 1s, but it normally looks a bit more amber than this guitar. Of course this guitar could be faded or it could just not be showing up properly on my screen.

We'll be very glad to see a couple of pics and a Youtube video showing your axe in action.
