I seem to have lost the tiny little thing . . .
My guitar is an American Deluxe Ash Strat. Can anyone tell me what size allen key fits to raise/lower saddle height?
Also, is it something I can get at a hardware store or is it so small I need a special order?

I Hate to take my guitar to the dealer when all I need is a few turns of a little wrench. Thanks for any advice.

You can get a set of allen's fron your local hardware store. I don't know the size you need off hand but just make sure the set you get has starts very small. also be sure to adjust your sadles to the radius of the fret board.

I used to do a lot of repairs on paintball markers and they are almost completely assembled with hex/allen keys. If I might make a suggestion, pay the little extra and get a good set of hex/allen keys with ball heads. They just seem to fit a bit better. If you scrimp on allen keys, you will likely end up with stripped screws. The smaller the screws get, the more risky.

I'm pretty sure it a 1/16". It's the second to last on the small side of my standard hex tool.

These are commonly found at the major hardware chains too.

Thanks, I've tried both 1/16" and 1.5 mm, which are the smallest I have. Both were just a bit too large. (Ugh.) Should have mentioned that in my post . . . .

Yeah, that can happen. That's another thing about the ball hex's... they tend to fit better. Seriously... get a good set of ball hex's... should be no more than $10.

Two things you can never have too much of... guitars and tools. Though one might argue that the guitar is the single greatest panti remover tool.... *evil grin* ... so they are one in the same.

Hi Philly,
I use a .050 Allen wrench for my saddle adjustments.
