Hey all!

Looks like I finally solved my Fender problem (the problem of not having one that is). I have traded my Zakk Wylde camo Eppy for a 60th Anniversary Highway One. WOOT! I pick it up on Saturday. I hope the wife doesn't plan on getting much sleep. Because a few of the boys are coming over and it's going to be rowdy! Come to think of it... probably best if she just takes our daughter and goes to her parents for the weekend... but back on topic...

I have a question. The gentleman that is trading with me said that the 60th Anniversary Highway One's had upgraded pickups. I just wondered if this was true or not. I've read that most player's biggest beef with the Highway One is that they tend to have weak pickups. I have tried to do some research on the net but not coming up with anything usefull. Just a lot of adds. I would love to hear any input on owners of this year of guitar.

Thank you in advance.

Steve

There were no special 60th Anniversary Highway One models.
That would only mean they were sold in 2006 and had the little round "60th Anniversary" badge on the back side of the headstock.

I bought my "badged" HSS in March 2006 (but the serial number and the dates on the inside of the guitar are all 2005 -- Nov and Dec). That was before the upgrades that happened in about June 2006, IIRC. And it's true that one of the upgrades was hotter pickups (another was the Large Headstock on the SSS model. Before that, only the HSS had the Large Headstock).

So mine doesn't have the hotter pickups, but they sound just fine to me as I like low output pickups the best!

If you think you like the hotter pickups, you should be pleased with an upgraded 2006 Highway One. Have fun!

Sorry, I probably should have been a little more clear, but you answered my question very well. The guitar is stock. It's supposed to be 2005 but it has the badge on the back of the headstock. So it likely has the weaker stock pickups. I'll have to check the serial number when I get it to be sure. I'm honestly not all that concerned. I'm not a strong enough player at this point for it to really make any difference. As long as it is a true strat with a straight and true neck, I'll be happy.

I would still love to hear any more advice or tips from Highway One owners out there.
