I agree, the sound of your clips are OK nothing sounds wrong.

This may sound weird but, if you use a touch sensitive amp such as a blackface or tweed or a mesa boogie, you may want to try lowering your pickups to 5cm. This will give you a cleaner tone but it will be more balanced from high to low.

The SRV and later Hendrix tone was 1/2 step lower, and they did use tube amps with tube rectifiers. Also, the quack is obtained from combining 2 pickups (i.e., neck and middle, bridge and middle).

Damn, if I only had the money, haha. Tube amps are really expensive here :|

You could opt for a hybrid amp-that's one with a tube driven(usually a 12AX7 or some other small tube)preamp and a solid state power amp.The tube in the preamp gives the initial signal a tubelike warmth while the power amp boosts the volume yet allows you to keep the tube-driven tone.Vox and Marshall make some excellent hybrid amps with convincingly realistic amp models yet they sell for a fraction of the cost of tube amps. You may even consider buying a used one as they are usually very dependable with only the tube needing occasional replacing.

I'll take note of that. Over here we have a really limited selection when it comes to gear and you have to really look hard for stuff like high-end tube amps or even marshall hybrids! Worth a shot though, thanks guys.

A cheap route would be to find one of these: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=180581 or something else similar.

It takes guitar level inputs - just run it between your guitar and amp. If you're running any pedals this is the last thing in the chain. Since about 80% of the "tube sound" comes from the preamp so this will help a lot without having to spend money on a hybrid combo.

I am just wondering if possible he is comparing his Strat to some other guitar? If you were a metal-head, then were you playing something with humbuckers before or did you always use your Strat? because if you were doing Metal with humbuckers, and then go to a Strat it is just going to sound thinner, and your going to need to adjust your amp (As well as checking pickup heights as suggested.) Even when i change from one Strat to an other Strat or a Tele I tweak my amp settings to get it to sound right. You should be able to get some great tone!

I already had an idea of what a strat would sound like because my first guitar was a squier, haha! I don't know why I got sick of metal and decided to go for blues/jazz. So that's it basically I started out with a squier then got into metal so I bought an ibanez and here I am again with another fender guitar. I did get great OVERDRIVEN tones out of Guitar Rig 4 :)

Hey, I played with a guy a few years ago from Czech Republic who came over as a foreign exchange student. He had long black hair way down past his shoulders, dressed in black and was into HM. For some reason, he started looking at and playing other music....mostly jazz. Stuff like John Scofield and Pat Metheny. We started playing 2 times a week and before long he fell in love with blues, jazz, fusion and even some ....... country music! He ended up with a Les Paul and a Strat Plus by the time he left and was a really great guitarist. So changing and expanding one's horizons is a good thing, I think. Are you getting better tone now after some of the suggestions????? :?:

Well not really since I don't have a decent amp (MG15 doesn't have EQ). As I said though I was using Guitar Rig 4 and I got good overdriven tones out of it, finally.
