I have had new strings break the first day, one string breaking is not that out of the ordinary, replace it and if it breaks again, then you may need to look into it.

Again, one string is a fluke, two or three is a problem. Some pictures would be helpful.

Strike one.

If it were me, yes, I hate Fender bullets.

You are not sure of what guitar you own?.......Really?
Pictures and a serial number would be helpful here without them, we all won't have a clue as to what it is as we can not see it.

You most welcome.

I've Had Bass Strings Break Like That Once In A While. Are You Over Stretching Them ? Running Your Fingers Under Them Too Much ?

I use only Elixir Nanowebs, never had a string broke with that brand. Usualy lasts 4-6 months before getting rusty. Well worth it. And I do bend and use the trem vigorously.

I have heard nothing but complaints about bullets. I stick with EB's, haven't done me wrong yet. I'd restring it, see if it is a recurring problem then check your nut and the step up.

If you aren't breaking strings once in a while, you are not playing enough.

Strings break. Like tires on your car, they ain't made to last forever.

I've had them break while bringing them up to pitch the first time (rare, but has happened) and had brand new strings snap right in the middle of the first song set at a gig.

Only thing I can say is "&#$it happens".

Counterpoint.

I use Fender 150's (regular ball end) almost exclusively on all my guitars and have never had breakage issues or inconsistant tone issues. They are quality strings. I don't use the Fender Supers at all (250s) because I don't like the sound of them compared to real nickel so I have almost no experience with them except that they come as stock on a new Fender guitar. If I buy a guitar then they get swapped out fairly quickly because they suck. I do occasionally use the 350s on my Tele and have had no breakage or inconsistent tone issues with them.

If you break a string really soon after changing the strings and it happens only once then you might be able to attribute it to a bad string but it could also be due to an error during the re-string job. If it happens more than once and the string breaks in the same place then you have an issue with your guitar. I would suggest that in prolly 95% of cases of early string breakage it is due to the either guitar or the guitarist and not the string itself.

If you play guitar you're going to break a string now and then. I use Fender 150's and change them often. Had one break not long after installing last week but that is a rare occurrence. Just keep a few spares and learn to change em out and keep playing.

I use Fender Bullets/Super Bullets on two of my three guitars. Never had a problem. The only strings I have ever broken were D'Addarios.

I forgot to mention another quirk I had noticed with D'Addarios when I bought that box. On 2 of the 8 sets that I used the high E string had to be replaced almost immediately. The string kept going flat. I'd tune it up and within 60-90 seconds it would be almost a whole step flat just sitting there not being played. At first I thought it was abnormal string stretch but after I tuned it back up for the 3rd time it went really flat so fast and then popped right off all within about 2 seconds. The ball end was still in the bridge and the end of the string that was dangling was all curly. On the second set that it happened to I payed closer attention before simply cranking away on the tuner. The wire tied around the ball was slipping and wire was spooling off the ball as though it were a hoist line rolling over a sheave. I usually keep a selection of loose strings on hand so I was able to replace it without robbing a set.

Edit: Oops this post was supposed to go in the other string thread.
