Hi,

there is some mystery about neck pitch adjustment. While official Fender manual stands that neck pitch should be adjusted only if it's impossible to set string height by regulating bridge saddles there are number of people around who states that proper neck angle helps to achieve rattle free low action setup. Furthermore, the bolts which are holding the neck on my Strat(it's quite new guitar) had loosened and although I tightened them back I am very doubtful that neck pitch is as it was set on factory.

It would be really nice If anybody clarified when micro tilt adjustment is really needed and how to perform this adjustment in a correct way.

Thank you!

Microtilt adjustment is only needed if the saddles have bottomed out. If you can't lower them anymore.

Otherwise, loosen the microtilt right off, secure the neck flat to the neck pocket. Tighten the neck screws and then tighten the microtilt adjuster screw to the point that it just touches the neck. To stop it rattling around.

If your neck has never been off the body, and your saddles adjust well with plenty of travel available up and down, leave the micro-tilt alone.

Also, if you got a 3 bolt neck I would avoid using it altogether. Any critical severe, adjustment may put undue stress on the two forward screws and it's holes causing fracture.
