is there a way to tell if this guitar has a V neck from the serial #dz4256749

The answer is "no and yes" - there isn't a public database with that kind of detail on Fenders, however, the serial number does indicate that it is a 2004 American Deluxe Strat. You can email Fender's Consumer Relations and they should be able to give you the details on the guitar; their email and phone number are in "Support" tab at the top of the page under "Contact Us". They have the details going back to about 1994, and should even be able to tell you the dealer that it was shipped to.
