I recently purchased this 40th anniversary strat from 1994. The previous owner couldn't tell me alot about the history of it. I am trying to find out how much of it is original and how much is modified. Really curious about this pick guard along with pickups. I know the pickups have the Custom shop decals on them. I will post some pics.

I can't be 100% certain because I admit I have not personally seen every guitar Fender ever made but I am reasonably confident that the Tele style volume and tone knobs, the pickup selector switch knob and the pickguard are all aftermarket. I've never seen Fender make jeweled knobs, chrome selector knobs or blue moto scratch plates. The incandescant lighting and the colors being picked up from the gold carpet make it difficult to tell what color the pickup covers are but I suspect they are chrome as well. Is that correct? If so then I'd bet they too are aftermarket. It's a sure bet the saddles are aftermarket too.

It's a nice looking guitar, BTW. With the CS pups it looks like a rocker! Somebody put some love into that one.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Looks like the neck, tuners, body, and bridge plate and strap buttons are original.

Pickups, saddles, pickguard, knobs, pickup covers, switch tip are all mods.

Can't tell about the rest, but I would assume the jack and jack plate are original. Can't see the pots, switch, trem block, to say if those are original or not.

Thanks for the information. Any idea what kind of pickups these are? Also, the pickups are chrome on the top. Any idea what it would be worth modified like this? I know the price value for a 94 40th anniversary is $1000-$1400, but I wasn't sure if the modifications would hurt or help the value.

I am really loving it and it plays wonderfully.

Sorry, all the mods will hurt the value. Also, I've never heard of a 1994 40th going for that much money - Fender put that metal emblem on the headstock and the special neck plate on every American Standard Strat made in 1994. I would expect a mint condition one to bring more like $800-$1,000 in pristine shape (and the higher values to rare colors) because they made so many of them.

Sorry, I can't tell about the pickups other than they are Fender CS. They probably came with white covers that the previous owner swiched to chrome when they did the other cosmetic mods.
