Hey,

I found this guitar in a pawn shop, and i love the sound of it. It seems to be a Fender Custom Shop guitar, with a brown no gloss finish, with a relic body and relic neck. Ive seen places that some older relic models of fender guitars do in fact have a water decal of the fender custom shop, and on the bottom of the neck the serial and made in U.S.A. stickers. I don't know if it is in fact real. The serial seems to check out that it was made in the custom shop, but i cant help but wonder if someone just applied the water decal. The head of the guitar has the contour body patent pending mark under the finish, as well as the Fender stratocaster logo. Is there a way i can tell if it is legitimate?

Need to see pictures of it. Sounds like the CS logo is in the wrong place.

Ill have pics up in a sec. Im set to buy it either way, it sounds incredible. The serial and Made in U.S.A. are located at the bottom of the neck near the body, and part of the serial number tore off when i merely touched it, thus the tape. The CS logo is on the back of the headstock where the round part is. It seems like its legitimate, because the relic neck is just like any other fender relic neck, the tuning pegs are identical, it has the bridge cover that you can get from the CS, so it seems like it would be real.

Forged decals. No USA Fender has that kind of serial number decal in that location. Certainly not a Fender Custom Shop - except for certain Master Built guitars (Master Builders have their own version of the CS decal with their signature instead of the words "Custom Shop" and some of them also put the serial number directly above their signature decal) they have the serial numbers on the neck plate.

On this guitar the CS headstock decal is a pretty decent forgery; the other decal (with the serial number and "Made In USA" is a really bad fake.

Whoa... I got nervous when I saw the first link... those are my guitars! And yes, a few of them are fake as fake can be, that is, not "real" vintage strats. The L6-S is real... the only vintage guitar I own. Anyhow...

Same thing happened to me the first time I hit the link - but it also happens to me on almost all Imageshack posts; when I hit the link a second time then it is fine (no virus).

I think the virus might be in a pop-up ad on Imageshack, not something the poster was intending.

I agree it wasnt their intention, i was just saying. The same pop up has come up on my computer alot recently

Their adservers have been virus infested once again.

All I did was log on to the link in the post and it just launched into the anti-virus download. Luckily I was quick enough to end the task. I'm currently using Webroot anti-virus and it jumped on it like a chicken on a junebug, captured! Thank God. I'll remember not to log on to anything imageshack in the future.
