Okay so I am looking at a MIM Strat sss sunburst to buy and I have seen the prices on the strats go from 220 to 450. What is the actual price on these used. Is 300 a good deal or just normal.

I usually see them at about $350 although it isn't out of the question to see one at $300

I would say it seems like a really fair price especially if the condition is good

as far as seeing them for $220, I would jump on that if I ever saw that in my city!!!!

Stock Mexican made Standard Strats will routinely be offered for sale for between $250-$350 used on Ebay, depending on model year and condition. If you are patient you will be able to find a very nice one in this price range. This is not to say a nice used one is not worth a little more than that. It's just that you can easily find a very nice one cheaper, if that's your goal.

If it's a very recent model (2007-2010) in great shape, with no issues, then it may be worth a little more, but just remember before you plunk down that much cash that you can get a brand new 2011 model, which has a few upgrades over the previous years models, shipped to your door for $499 (depending on color) if you buy from one of the large online dealers such as Musicians Friend, or if you search the Ebay Stores for authorized Fender retailers. And sometimes you can get a scratch and dent item for (or
a blow out special) such as this FSR for just over $420 :

I think $300 is about average for one without any issues. A fair price but not a steal. The 08' and newer models feature some upgrades such as a tremolo block with more mass and better shielding. I've seen some MIM standards for under $300 but some of those have issues. A friend bought a 94' for $275 but it needs a little work (warped pickguard and some serious body dings.) If you find one you like at $300 I'd buy it rather than waiting around in hopes of saving $25 or so. I think anything much under $250-275 is probably going to have some problems.

The '09 for $299 would be the better deal as it has a more substantial block for the vibrato hence should have more sustain than the others and if you like the look of it too that's another plus-go for it.

Are the ones usually under 300 just under because of issues.

not really depends on your market/area. Around here if you are paying 300-350 for a MIM standard you are paying too much. They sell all day for 200-300 with no issues.

I just bought a 07 MIM 60's Reissue for $375 and thought I got a great deal. It also came with the tweed G&G case. By the way does anyone know what pickups came stock with a MIM 60's Reissue?

It's pretty easy to get a MIM strat for $225. Just go to GC Used online and find several. Or go into your local GC and tell them to price-match against the website.

From what I've seen in my area the $300 price tag seems to be about right.
