I have an Amer Deluxe Strat with a LSR nut and when I use the trem for more then just slight vibrato some strings go sharp while some stay in tune. I replaced the saddles and the block and the problem still exists. While I know Its no Floyd Rose, however, It seem with an LSR ball-bearing nut the pitch if anything should go flat. So my question is where is the string catching causing the note to go slightly sharp? Suggestion?

Trees if you have them,, also inside the block (at top) lube these areas and saddles. If trem system is set up right you should have no problem after doing this. I dont even lube and have no problems but thats cause i keep trem plate flush with body.

If you use the trem and the guitar goes out of tune...

98 times out of 100 it means that the nut is catching the string. Have the nut replaced or re-filed by a really competent tech (if you can find one) and the guitar will work perfectly.

A Strat trem system with a good nut needs no lubrication. I float mine according to Fender spec, use it often and my Stat needs retuning maybe once in two weeks.

The Am. Dlx. HSS models come with an LSR roller nut, so it can't be that.

Ooops... I somehow skidded right over that.

Then the nut's not working right, you've got the wrong gauge of strings on it (I have been told that they don't work well with 10s or above... you have to use 9s), or something. I stand by my statement that the nut is almost always the problem.

What strings are you using?

Here's are the specs I found on Google for the LSR...

"LSR—Linear String Rotation—reduces friction that can cause tuning instability. Accept string gauges .008 to .056. Mounting hardware and instructions included. Right-hand only."

....I've heared of people using 12's with LSRs without any problems.

And I've heard of people having problems with anything heavier than 9's, as I said.

Sadnwich, there was a replacement LSR for gauges as heavy as 12's... check Dan Erlewine' "GUitar PLayer Repair Guide." The recommendation for the stock Fender LSR's was a set of 9's.

for tuning problem with tremolo playing you need to use only bullet end strings.
the bullet end can keep the guitar in tune if you play with tremolo.
