Does anyone have any information about these guitars? I just purchased #23of 25 today but won't receive for 2 weeks so can't check out case candy. Very little online. No mention of it in the Vintage Guitar Price guide. Here is what the listing did say..."EC, black finish, matching headstock, rosewood fretboard, dot markers, 22 frets, Texas special pickups, pearloid-b-w pickguard, American Deluxe tremolo and locking tuners, gold hardware, built at the Fender® Custom Shop®, #23 of 25 built, great look and sound, 1-11/16" nut, 25-1/2" scale, with black OHSC (SN:23 OF 25) "

Anybody know why only 25 and why it was even built in the first place? Only thing I can think of was 95 was 25 anniversary of Jimi Hendrix death and that his favorite guitar was a black on he names Black Beauty. Again, my guess.

Any info greatly appreciated

New to the site.

...I know EC means excellent condition and not Eric Clapton. I know it's NOT a Clapton model. I have bought from this store so EC is the condition. Judging by the posts nobody really knows anything about the model. Such a limited run I would imagine they don't come up for sale very often. Why only 25? Why does it have the features it has, it's not a signature guitar, relic, reissue? Why the matching headstock? I am not a real knowledgeable fender guy. Guess I'll have to wait till I get my paws on it and hopefully the case holds some info. Thanks for the time..

I can't think of a Clapton model with a rosewood board, I don't think it has anything to do with Hendrix in the slightest.
It sounds like a limited run CustomShop guitar. They do that quite a bit, every year atleast.

EC doesn't necessarily refer to Eric Clapton's initials. It also stands for "excellent condition".

Here's a photo of the guitar:

Just a guess - it is possible that the CS built this run of 25 guitars with the same specs for a dealer (like Guitar Center, Mannys or some such) or they made a run of 25 guitar for an event like NAMM or some other trade show.

Agree with chromeface - the "ec" probably stands for "excellent condition" in this case.
