Could someone explain what this feature is on the American Deluxe Strat HSS. I did a search but only came up with one reference.
Also, what is the Beveled Neck Heel?

I have one on my Jeff Beck strat. It is a nut that reduces string friction/binding so that when using the whammy bar it helps to stay in tune. Not a necessity but if you really tweak the bar a lot it is a nice feature. Some have said it reduces tone, but I haven't noticed.

I have an AM Dlx Strat too. One reason I bought it was to check out the LSR nut and tuners. I had read all the advertising blather and took it with a grain of salt. BOY WAS I WRONG. This guitar stays in tune! No string tree, no problem. I changed the stings to lime slinkys (10-46). No hassles other than re-setup of the trem block. I like it so much, my Am standard is going to get modified with the nut and tuners.

A couple of highly respected members of this forum have suggested the LSR nut is unreliable. Among other things the balls are said to elongate and become oval shaped over time due to string pressure. There are also comments out there regarding a loss of tone. I have owned 2 guitars equipped with this nut and still own one of them now. I play my LSR equipped Strat more than all my other guitars combined so you can imagine I've logged some significant usage hours on that nut and every hour with 10s at standard tuning. I am unable to corroborate the complaints as I have yet to experience issues of any kind. If there are differences in tone they must be minor because I notice nothing glaringly obvious. The fact they are made of steel would predict a tendency toward reduced losses in vibrational transfer between nut and wood. Nevertheless the problems with this nut are alleged by some pretty respectable members so you may want to consider the possibility there may well have been a few which did not perform as well as mine have.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thanks for that. Right now the LSR Rollernut is being considered a plus for getting an American Deluxe HSS or the Mahogony Special I liked. The John Mayer Special is a real close second at this point. In fact if the JMS had the LSR it would probably tip the scales for me. I've got to play the Mahogony Special again and try to figure out why that guitar felt so good.

If you are thinking of installing an LSR Roller Nut on your Strat, you might like to check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQL0R09I ... re=related
