Mark McCann sold me a guitar last spring, about a year ago, and I see the site is down.

I emailed him today but got an automatic reply that he would be out of town until next week and get back to me then.

He is located in Springfield, Missouri.

He sells an awesome collection of Fender guitars. I hope this is just temporary.

I suppose one can find the old pages at those Internet Archive sites (way back machine?) ... a guy could rebuild it, if he had a site to put it.

What a sad thing to read! He was a great guy to deal with. His website was a trove of info. Never mentioned his ailment once in our correspondence. RIP friend...

Thanks for explaining this. I wondered what happened as he just disappeared from the web. Sorry for his family.

That's just the way he was. He faced it with dignity and never complained.
By the way, he was my brother-in-law and I'll miss him.

When he was putting the site together, he emailed me and asked permission to post a bunch of stuff from my website about Strat Plus guitars. He used my pictures and write up and gave me full credit and even a link to my site. Not many people with that kind of integrity out there these days on the web! Seemed like a really upfront nice guy.

Again, that's the kind of man he was. Mark built his reputation on honesty and integrity. A real professional in every sense of the word.

Sorry for your loss, Bill. I know I'll remember him whenever I play one of his Strats, and there are five of them here. Is there a memorial site we can sign somewhere so his wife will know how he was held in high regard by many who never met him? :(

cnsky54,
I haven't heard anything as yet. I'm sure arrangements are still being made. I will post it as soon as I hear.

Thank you. I just realized that Mark sold me my first older Strat when I was bit by the accumulation bug. It's been like he was always there in my short time of hoarding...

Hello,

My name is Christina and my husband and I owned Strat Collector. My daughter alerted me to this post and I wanted to let you all know where the site went. Mark passed away of brain cancer on Saturday March 26th, 2011, he was 59 years old. Previous to his death Mark's tumor growth was preventing him from being able to talk, write and even read. He had to shut the site down because of that. He loved his guitars and his website. He especially loved letters of satisfaction with the customers purchase.
I want to thank you for inquiring about the site and let you know that we appreciated your business. Mark was the love of my life and he will be sorely missed. God bless you all.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Stratcollector.com
