I don't think I ever got around to posting this here, so I'll just throw it up here now...

I got married in Trevose, PA at the Crowne Plaza, 6/25/2010, and while packing up the next day (6/26/10), someone walked off with my 2001 Fender American Series Texas Special Fat Stratocaster. The Guitar was in a Grey tweed fender/G&G case. The guitar itself was an aged cherry burst with a very unique grain pattern, guitar had a Maple neck. The guitar has a velvet backguard on the backside of the guitar to prevent buckle rash. The authorities were been notified. The hotel address is 4700 Street Rd Feasterville-trevose, PA. If you have any info, please feel free to send me an email. The first three numbers of the serial number are as follows: Z01. If you are wondering why I had my guitar at my wedding, one of my groomsmen ws a drummer in a band I used to be in, and we thought it would be cool to get a pic of us with my guitar and his drumsticks....corny, I know, but it made for some good pics.
Here is a pic of the guitar, as well as the case it was in. This was a wedding present, and I would like it returned. Thank you for your help. If you have seen it, or know someone that has, contact me or the Bensalem, PA police department (215) 633-3700.

and here is the last time I played it, about an hour before my wedding...

Sorry about your loss..
I'll keep a look for that strat, it is rather easy to identify with that finish.

I wish you good luck.

Sorry to read about your loss the idiots that steal these instruments should have their hands broken and not set.Vintage Guitar Magazine offers free stolen guitar ads and they are read by a lot of dealers and I imagine pawn shops too.You can contact them here : www.vintageguitar.com .BTW have you checked with the pawn shops in your area because some of these knuckle draggers are dumb enough to try and pawn them in the same towns they were stolen from.

Sorry to hear you lost it. Congrats on getting married.

Even though months have past. Seriously consider finding the full serial number which should be on the hang tag. Or find it from the records at the music store you purchased it from your invoice etc.

Post it here. Once the serial number is cached in google its very easy for someone to come straight to this post and see where it came from. You may get it back even years later after it has changed hands a few times (has happened before). Makes it so much easier to know if they have the exact one.

Notify all the pawn brokers you can in the area it was stolen in as well.
Send them photos in an Email. That is about the best you can do to recover it quickly.
Consider also post a reward for recovering it as an incentive to stores.

I lost my wallet once and it was found intact 50km away. There are honest people that will help you out.

Man that really sucks! That was quite the guitar. I will keep an eye out although I'm on the opposite side of the country, you never know where someone might try to sell it, or where it's made it to by this point.

i did check with the local pawn shops...(weren't many in the area) as well as music stores. I do know the serial number, but was hesitant to post it here. Didn't know if that was good or bad. I even have pictures of the serial number.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. You may be able to recover it by using this web site, many Guitarists have recovered theirs through reporting their stolen Guitars here.

http://www.dbtwang.com/

Make sure you give as much detailed information as possible, plenty of photos and include the Guitar's full serial number.

Don't think it'd be any harm in posting the serial # here. If you have proof of ownership (receipt, bill of sale etc...) it'll do nothing but help your chances of somebody spotting it and being able to return it to you. The first three digits you posted will be on MANY other guitars, and that really doesn't narrow it down much.

I hope the cops in PA can catch the crook and recover the strat. Have you checked out some of the used strat necks on ebay and other online sites that sell original Strat parts? I saw one site where they stated the SN of the neck they were trying to sell.

I'd keep checking Craig's List for at least a 100 mile radius of where it was stolen. If the thief was local, he's either keeping it for himself (maybe he's a player) or he's going to dump it when he thinks the coast is clear.

Unless he's a player, I doubt if he'll know enough to part it out and most likely Ebay, Craig's List, Pawn Shop, to dump it (if you're lucky). The downside is he may sell it to a buddy, or trade it for the next fix. If he did the latter, unfortunately, you'll most likely never see it again.

Sorry to hear about this.

Jeff

Sorry for your loss and at your wedding, that must really hurt. If you haven't already made a police report, I would suggest you do so and provide the police with the serial number and photos of the guitar. The police will put the guitars make, model, color and serial number into a national data base for stolen property, which is called NCIC. That way if a police officer anywhere in the country has reason to run the guitars serial number it will come up stolen and the person holding the guitar gets charged with Receiving Stolen Property and you get your guitar back. It's a long shot, but without reporting the guitar stolen and entering the serial number you have very little chance of recovering it.

It was at a hotel, and I think it was someone who saw the case, and knew there would be something good inside. That same weekend there were a bunch of really freaky looking people staying there from a roller derby league. That night at the hotel bar were some freaks with multi colored hair, and painted faces and crap. It was a really nice hotel, so why they stayed there was beyond me. Some of them looked like wanna be rock stars, so I have a feeling that one of them snatched it. A police report was filed, and they have a full description and serial number of the guitar. Eventually, I may get lucky...at some point, 2 or 3 owners later, the guitar may come up for sale somewhere, and maybe someone will notify me.

Unfortunately, since it was at a hotel not far from the airport, that guitar could be anywhere in the country. Who knows.
