Can anyone help me identify my strat? The neck plate reads "Fender Corona California". The serial number on the headstock is US10115597. I've looked at different sites, but can't seem to find any information. :?:

Its really hard to give you an answer with out pictures or details. How many screws does it have in the bridge, 2 or 6? does it have a big headstock or small. Does it have 21 frets or 22? All I can tell you from the serial is that is a 2010 model made in the USA

It has two screws in the bridge, 22 frets and a large headstock.

are you sure a large headstock? that doesn't add up. If it is a large headstock that would make it a Highway one or American Special, but both of those have 6 point bridges. Really gonna need to see pics on this one.

You can post pics using photobucket

The receipt says that it's an American Special. I have been dealing with this music store for over 15 years and have never had a problem. Could this guitar somehow be a fake? I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

Photobucket has an "IMG" code, but I've found that it doesn't work on this board. You have to use the "Img" button that is on the first line of this form (the line that starts with the "B" button) and then copy in the "Direct Link" from Photobucket. If you use the "IMG" code from Photobucket you actually have to remove the that Photobucket automatically puts in the line.

Yeah, sounds like a Highway 1/Am Spec neck on an American Standard body.

That would be a good deal if you only paid the American Special price.

Just went to the music store and discovered that, for some strange reason, it is a special neck on a standard American body. Why, we don't know, but I only paid the special price so I'm very happy I came out ahead of the game. Thanks for all your help.

American Special Strats started using the US10 serial number in May or June of 2010.

Fender changed up their serial number system for 2010; they did a way with the old "Letter + 1st Digit" system to identify the year.

For the first few months of 2010 they used a prefix of "10" on their USA models; unfortunately that "10" is almost exactly the same font as the other digits of the serial number. Around May or so Fender started using "US10" as the prefix and they made that "US10" much bolder than the other digits. For 2010 they have also stopped using model prefixes like "D" for the American Deluxe models and "S" for the Artist Signature models. The OPs guitar has the later version of the 2010 serial number. One assumes that we will begin seeing guitars with "US11" serial numbers in the stores fairly soon.

The MIM models change their serial numbers over mid-year, so Fender was still using the "MZ9" prefix until about June of 2010, the curren MIM guitars are using an "MX10" prefix (so the MIM guitars never used the plain "10" prefix).
