Just curious,

I realize it's been a quarter century since these were made,....

but,.....since Fender can't provide any details,....I'm wondering if Fuji-Gen can?

Does anyone know of any (yes, I realize this is a long shot...) contacts at Fuji-Gen?

I am an insurance investigator by trade, so I LOVE a good mystery. There HAS to be an easy way to get build details on these babies. I'll write the letter(s), but figured I'd ask if anyone knows any actual Fiji-Gen contacts before I go that route...

I WILL get the answer.

Just been reading this really interesting thread so I joined just to be able to join in. I too own a wonderful 1984 MIJ Fender Stat ( at the Fuji-Gen Plant)it is sunburst with Rosewood FB it has a system 1 Trem which is magnificent and it says MIJ on the headstock. It really is a beautiful guitar to play and I am lucky enough to have owned it from new. I have bought and sold many guitars but this will always stay with me. I would attach some photos but as I'm new I am not really sure how to do it ? Some help please. Lol
Anyway, I look forward to hearing the rest of the replies.
Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,

To post photos, you have to actually register for a photo site like Photobucket, and upload them there.

As you click on the photos on photobucket, along the right side it will show a location url for the photo.

Copy that url. When you post a repy in these threads, there are buttons above the reply box. Hit the Img box. You'll have to paste the copied url in between the two Img "brackets". The photo will then show up when you hit enter and the reply posts.

Annoying, yes, but most forums operate like that, or else they'd run out of storage space almost immediately...

Hey everyone. I never did get around to posting photos of my Strat to this thread. Still gonna do that one day.

In the meantime, where does this one fit into all of this:
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/msg/3715439159.html

I'm thinking of making an offer. Does that seem like a good price?

Yeah Whimsyking, G'day, I've never seen anything like the finish on that Craigslist specimen. Unless it's a rare original paintjob, I wouldn't pay $650 for it. It looks like a black finish, mostly sanded off, stained and clear coated. It's got some good bits on it though. They went to actual Floyds towards the end of the 80s.

Meanwhile, please add your Spyder Strat photos to the archive

Goodonya ...Mark.

Take a look at this one that was just posted on ebay... Textbook SpyderStrat, in a nice red, Fender USA flight case, same tremolo arm as mine.

Yep, that's a nice one Mark. It even says Japan or USA? in the title :?:
It's maybe priced a little high though. I think it's worth it, but I'm a little biased.

Hi all!!!

I recently acquired a Black single Humbucking MIJ E62xxxx serial without the correct fine tuners and the screws that are in it (regular round head allen) make the fine tune (bars?) sit on the finish...

I have been reading this thread and have a question:

Does the system 1 vibrato have a larger route on the guitar face to accommodate pulling up on the trembar? Mine does not...

I was thinking that it was the wrong body, but when searching pics, I can't really see any route like the Kahler in the few good pics that I have found. No one has really taken a good pic at that angle, at least not the pics that are coming up on Google.

I know that it is model 27-4400 in the US catalog and ST-551 in Twang.

Also, anyone know of a lower price option to Wammiworld(sp?)... That is a bit much for screws!

Still need to unbolt the neck to see what is written on neck pocket and neck, but the strings are new and I want to play on them a bit!!! :)

Thanks! :)

Led Hendriani - I don't remember any of the Fenders with the System 1 having routing under the trem. I believe that was only on the very last version of this model that had the Kahler Spyder (and even the first of the Kahler Spyder models did not have the routing under the bridge).

I ran across this Strat tonight during an attempted swap for my US G&L ASAT Bluesboy semi-hollow. The guy said it was American, but then admitted it was kind of confusing and might be Japanese, transitional, etc. Anyway, found this thread in my search and knew right away that this one would fit in just fine. Dude was cool; let me snap the pics & do the research.

Btw, I didn't do the deal. Time to go play my Bluesboy....

In the last picture notice the pick guard screw between the first and s4econd pickup. This is the way it was done up until 1962. I had one hell of a time finding a pearl pick guard because they were all made for the modern style 11 screw set up. Mine has 11 screws, just one of them is located differently.

Makes me think its a 62 re issue, but I don't know. Serial # E-857183 Here is a link to the place where I got my pick guard, read what it says there. See ya...
