Sell that '64 and never look back. There's a reason a '64 reissue has never been made. You can flip that 64, buy custom shop strat that's a superior instrument, and then bank the 15 grand difference.

smedley...You don't have a clue what you're talking about.

To the original poster...keep it and you will be glad you did, sell it and you will regret it in the future...I let an original '65 Sonic Blue get away from me and have regretted it ever since.

Do I spy a repaired broken off headstock? Or is it just finish wear around that area? I've seen a few LesPauls with that headstock/neck scar..

I dont know what it's worth, and in a global recession, it is not the time to sell it anyway.

I think she's a beaut. With history pasted all over it..

That's what a Road Worn should look like.

Ebay is the place to find rare and OOP vintage parts.

Two distinct types and brands of tuners could've been fitted to a '66 Strat -- Kluson Deluxe "double-line" nickel-plated types were standard early in the model year but in the autumn these were replaced on the production line by a chrome-plated Fender "F-type" which used a trapezoid-shaped base. My '66 Strat (with a neck dated in January) had the Klusons, a friend's near identical guitar made in September had the F-types.

i just stumbled into this website and topic and thought maybe someone could shed some light on what my 1964 strat might be worth.

i've got a 1964 strat that i bought in 1964 when i was 14 years old. i was terrible at learning how to play it so it has not been used very much. basically it has just sat in it's case sitting under my bed for the past 30+ years. it has a few little dings but they are barely visible. the finish is original and still shines like new. i still have the original receipt and little introductory book that came with it. i believe the serial numbers are printed on the back but i would have to look. it is sunburst with a light oak colored neck with a rosewood inlay for the playing surface. i actually think there might be a couple of fender pics still in the case. the tremelo bar and chrome bridge cover are still with it except they are not on the guitar. the case is black with red velvet lining. even though i don't play guitar, i have kept all these years because i loved the way it looked. it was also the first big thing i purchased with my own earned money. i still get tingles when i open the case to look at it. i am 60 years old now and have been thinking that maybe i should sell it just in case i die and my wife puts it out in a garage sale. if i get a response that this topic is still active i could post some pictures for anyone to take a look at. i will appreciate any response i receive.

thank-you
rob

Hi Rob,

we all love to see fotos of such great guitars in great condition. If you would like to share fotos of your ´64 it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Cheers,
Robin

I can't see your guitar, to comment. I think you can load them directly to this site, like my 1969-1970 Strat:

the price of vintage instruments has gone down alot. I was talking to a store owner who deals specifically with vintage instruments and he said that a 1964 strat that sold for 20 or 25 thousand is about half that now.
