i'm a big strat freak and i'm here to defend the beloved guitar we know and love and proove a point to my friend and bass player who believes that the stratocaster is out of fashion and out of date and no metal players use them... so what i'm asking from all of you strat users and fans and lovers out there is to gather a list of all post 90's contemporary rock metal punk emo and alternative rock famous stratocaster artists... thank you all :)

You can get on Wikipedia probably find a list of all artists who have ever used a stratocaster.

To say that the strat has fallen out of fashion in rock music is, of course, nonsense. Plenty of artists use strats that have at the very least been modified in some form or other. You probably don't see a lot of folks rocking out on the heavier stuff with a vintage type of setup, but certainly throw a humbucker in the bridge and you can nail 99% of the sounds out there. Even a stock strat with 3 single coils can be used to comp most of that stuff with the right amp, pedals, etc.

It's the player and not just the instrument that can get those sounds. Use what feels right to you and don't worry about what your uninformed friends might say. Work hard and practice your licks, and as soon as you do a few impressive lines with your lowly out of fashion strat your friends might start changing their tune.

You can always start with the signature artist models just to get a quick idea of rock artists that play strats. But your friend is also right in that many nu-metal/rock players of today use humbucker loaded guitars such as a Gibson Les Paul. Many shredders out there also use floyd rose equipped guitars such as Ibanez and Jackson (a FMIC division)

yeah but i don't find those as a necessity... except for the humbucker but i might load a strat with a humbucker soon i've noticed all the rock metal and punk players use a bridge humbucker... although i like my tone with a single coil as well... also i recall eric clapton once said (and i'm really not into eric clapton so i may be wrong) "you can make a strat sound like a les paul but you can't make a les paul sound like a strat"

I love my strat, but last time I was on stage, I wished I had humbuckers. All those lights were driving me crazy with the single coil hum. Many guitarists now days also use high gain amps and humbuckers help quite them down too.
