Hi,

So far, I have been very pleased with my tele deluxe, but am interested in a stratocaster. I have looked into it-so far I have considered the american special(a bit expensive for me), the highway one, the 70's strat and the deluxe roadhouse.
If i can stick to it, my budget is £650, $1,032.
Has anyone got anything to say about these guitars, or have any other suggestions?

The new "Blacktops" are very nice and a little less money that a MIM Standard, I absolutely love mine, but if you want the traditional SSS configuration get yourself a Mexican standard. The 2011's have nicer neck finishes than previous years.

I think you will be happy with either one. (Blacktops are MIM guitars.)

Yeah, i'm interested in a traditional SSS strat sound. Since I already have something the same configuration as a blacktop(tele deluxe), unfortunately I cannot come up with a reason for one! They look like very nice guitars though...

Take a look at the new MIM standards. The ones I have seen at GC stores have necks that are nicer than past years. My Blacktop has a nice one too. I think you will be impressed.

The '62 reissue or the Jimmie Vaughn are both great guitars for sound and playability.

Good call! Your Tele definitely needs a Strat playmate. :)

I recommend the Highway One. Its my favorite model, its like it was built for me :D , but the things I like also put some people off. For one it has huge jumbo frets and a thick C shape neck that some people find uncomfortable. Also it has darker sounding high output pickups, so a little lacking in the glassy, chimey strat tone. Where they shine is with distortion. I liken them to a happy medium between humbuckers and single coils. The attack and articulation of single coils and the warmth and output of humbuckers.

The 70s styling and nitro finish make them look so damn cool, but again this is very subjective.

Obviously try them all out, and you may well want a more traditional sounding strat, but I must say HW1s are underrated.

I just picked up a 2000 American Series w/ gold lace sensors and TBX circuitry - I can't put it down! If you love the Tele "spank", you'll love the Lace Sensors and TBX circuitry for the combination of Tele spank with Fender's bell overtones or clean thick Strat tone! Depends on the type of tone you are after, you will have to find the right one for you. Hope this helps!
