Hi, everyone, a first post from a new member in the UK. I have just become a Fender owner, and have gone a bit mad! My lovely and long suffering wife bought me a new MZ10 serial Candy Apple Red / Maple MIM Strat for Christmas; lovely. Due to a local advert, also bought a 1996 MN6 serial MIM Strat in, I think Wine Red (deffinately not Midnight Wine). Aforementioned lovely wife also bought (as early birthday pressie), a MIM MZ09 Precision Bass. Boy, am I lucky!
Now to the main question.. The '96 Strat has a spaghetti gold Fender logo, and the serial number is on the reverse of the headstock, with the Made in Mexico script. Most other Strats around '96 I have seen has the serial number on the front under the logo.
The original tuners were, I think Kluson types, but have been changed to USA ones with Fender logos.
Anyone got ideas or comments about the headstock logo?

Cheers

Richard

Until someone more knowledgable posts, I'll chip in that their are several MIM models that have that logo, among them are the 50's Reissue, 60's Reissue, Powerhouse, and Deluxe.

Some older MIM Fenders (besides the classic series) used the spaghetti logo, and these were the precursors to the Deluxe Series. Your 2010 has the logo more akin to the 1970's style logo if it is a standard, and your 2009 may have the logo used on standard MIM Fender's for the last 20 years ( being similar to the 70's logo, but with silver letters and black outline ). Fender USA standard guitars from the late eighties until the mid-late nineties also had the 70's style logo with silver letters. Vintage reissue and classic series will use the respective logo's for the decades they correspond to. :)
