Hi everyone, I'm fresh to these boards and the community so take it easy on me.

My question is simple and to the point, I play general rock music particuarly moreso 90s grunge alt rock
I have currently a line 6 flextone 2 2x12 and a mexican standard strat (03 model) with a duncan hotrail in the bridge. Recently I have began shopping for my next peice, here's the list of what I have found so far

1.50's players strat in daphne blue new
2.fender powerhouse strat yellow (found used for 450)
3. American special new

If I am looking for a blues style compliment to my rocknroll machine I have currently are any of these solid compliments? Any input is awesome

I'd say buy one of each, keep the one you like best and send the other 2 to me. :D

Seriously, I think the advice of playing several examples of each would be the best option. Heck, one not even on your list may speak to you and end up being "the one".

I really enjoyed the powerhouse strat when I sampled it I just don't know a lot about the line, I'm really into the idea of the 50s strat mainly bc of the color lol. We have a guitar center opening up in louisville his Friday I'm hopin to get my hands on that 50s or american special.

I'm also looking at a hot rod deville or a blues deluxe...too much to think on its makin my head hurt

Welcome to the forum cuepublic, the last time I bought a new Strat I walked into the store intending to buy a beautiful Aerodyne Strat that had been in the store for 3 years unsold.I tried out several Strats anyway and ended up buying a Jimmie Vaughn as that was the one that spoke to me and that had the sound I kept hearing in my head,it also felt great in my hands.Although you may have a preconceived notion what you want when you try out several guitars you may end up with a guitar completely different than what you thought you wanted.Don't limit your choice to one of 3 or 4 guitars-try as many as you can and you may come away with the guitar of your dreams-I did.

You changed the bridge pickup, but do you still have the two stock(or at least good replacement) single coils in tact?

If I were you, looking for a blues vibe.....Id get another amp before guitar. The blues tones wont very often be on the bridge pickup in general(even if it were a single coil in yours still).

One of those amps you mentioned will do much much more for a blues sound as opposed to another strat playing thru that same digital modeling amp.

The amp will get you there more than anything else. Keep that same guitar for now and flip it to the neck position, or any one of the others that arent the bridge and run it through a driven fender amp and you will find what you're looking for.

A CP50 would be the better choice for blues work, I would also suggest you look at a Blues Jr., Peavey classic 30 112 or a Peavey Delta blues (210 or 115) tube amp. Blues tone just needs to have real tube sound to work right. Yes I know there are blues players that play solid state, but I still feel your just handicapping yourself in the long run.

One last thing, get a high quality guitar cord, you will be amazed how many times I see a player complaining about his tone, a 2000 dollar guitar, 1500 dollar amp, with a in house special 1.00 guitar cord that is 20 years old and been stepped on a billion times.

The guitars Cord is just the last thing we think about sometimes.

My 2¢ is that I have both a Powerhouse and 50's RI and I definitely get far closer to a Clapton blues tone with the Powerhouse than with the 50's RI. The overdrive boost is pretty cool and very unique among strat models.

I believe he is talking about the Classic players 50 strat, not the reissue.
It has a different radius on the board and i think 22 frets vs. the 21.

The powerhouse is louder with the boost and all, but to my ears, the pick ups sound very vanilla in tone, loud yes, but sorta soulless.
(Just my opinion, yours may very).
I think the CP50's pick ups have more personality and a voicing better for blues.

Now if he is talking about the reissue, I would not go with it because with blues you need to bend, and the 7.25 board will make bending a true challenge, and then i would look more to the powerhouse, but i would plain to change the pick ups to the custom shop 50's.

I was talking about the reissue models, I did play the powerhouse strat and it seemed great I ran it through a peavey xxx, and then a crate blue voodoo I was sampling a tube screamer too,it was a really serious sounding guitar not to mention its like a hotrod yellow so that was instant eye candy.
The employee at the store was very anti mexican fenders, then again he seemed like he was workin on upselling me to a gibson.

The peavey deltas have been an interest of mine I played one about 3 months ago with nothing but a squier vm jag and it sounded great I might have to try it out with a better guitar...thanks for the replies you guys rock
