After some recent YJM talk(i mean bashing) here I almost didn't want to post this, but I need information so please if you wanna bash him, use the other post not this one :)

Ok so my question is this. I noticed that there are a few YJM strats for sale around the web but the prices seem very inconsistent. everywhere from like $550.00 to $2600.00 bucks.

Is there a major difference from a 1995 compared to a 2005?
if anyone knows the timeline of this build of guitar any help would be great.
I would like to get one, and I'm thinking of trading a guitar for it, so i just want to get all my "ducks" in a row

thanks

The first YJM Strats combined elements from an American Standard and a '57 Reissue. They featured two DiMarzio HS-3 stacks in the neck and the bridge and a Delta-Tone pickup in the middle. Controls include a 3-way switch, master volume, tone (neck pickup), TBX (middle/bridge pickups). Three years later, Fender updated the YJM Strat with a CBS large headstock, two DiMarzio YJMs (neck/middle) and a DiMarzio HS-3 Stack (bridge). Two no-load tone controls for both the YJMs and the HS-3 replaced the TBX circuit of the older models.

In 2006, the bullet truss-rod was introduced and a 3-ply white pickguard replaced the mint pickguard found on the previous versions.

The YJM Strat in its present form is available with a trio of Seymour Duncan YJM Furys, though the specs sheet shows the guitar with the older DiMarzio YJM/HS-3 Stack setup.

The more recent ones have machine screws holding the neck on rather than wood screws...

Fretboard scallops are more pronounced on the newer ones.

Cheers,

There were also several models that were made in Japan. You may see these on Ebay from time to time at a lower price than the American Models. Most of the bodies on those are basswood if I am not mistaken. I have a 2000 american model with a David Gilmour EMG set in it. I have not played the Japan models but they do look very cool.
