what are your top 5 favorite bands? I'm asking because I'm curious as to the musical tastes around here and because I want to get some music from different artists but dont know what bands to look at so I will use your posts. mostly into rock and a little blues.

my top 5 would be:
1) Pink Floyd
2) Led Zeppelin
3) Eric Clapton (any band with him)
4) Creedence Clearwater Revival
5) The Who

Mr fan

My favorites are the same as yours minus the Zeplin. In it's place are the coutless blues bands that were not able to make the bigtime.

Just five? This will be hugely tough for me, so I guess I pick favorites from several different categories. I also tend to like particular people more than bands now days.

1. Electric Blues. The Vaughan Brothers (who got me into blues), Alan Haynes, Matt Schofield, the Kings and the Collins, the list could go on and on. :D

2. Acoustic Blues. Lightnin' Hopkins has got to be my personal favorite, but the list here is pretty long too.

3. Classic Rock. Jimi Hendrix. What more needs to be said?

4. Jazz. Larry Carlton, Robben Ford (though technically he can be blues too), Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, Jimmy Smith... Way more than five here too.

Social distortion, Volbeat, clutch, bullet for my valentine and Alice in chains have been getting the most playtime in my car lately.
