I bought a Fender American Standard 3 or 4 months ago. I've playing a lot since. A week ago the input started to break the sound and do some pretty loud noises. Now, most of the time it doesn't work. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Unscrew the jackplugs plate, carefully lift the plate and socket assembly out of the body all as one.
Check for any wires hanging off the hidden side of the jack socket.

If non then the problem is likely at the other end, connecting to the underside of the volume pot. You'll need to take the strings then scratchplate off the guitar to check this.

I'd suspect the socket to be where the problem is though, it's usually the socket.

+1 on the guitar input jack. Guitar cable could also be the problem, easy enough to try another cable.

if the cable is loose in the guitar its probable the guitar input jack... take about 2 minutes to replace... ( this is what i do... if it is the jack, get a stereo replacement and brigde one of the contacts... its common with most fenders after a while if the cable moves around it causes breaking up, a stereo jack will prevent this...)

The socket has a nasty habit of working its self lose with out you knowing it an eventually one of the wires breaks off.
Or failing that blame your lead, Ive not long myself just finished re-wiring up my Strat, plugged it in for a test an nothing ...... tried a different lead an still nothing ..... I was just about to start pulling it apart but tried a third lead an all was good, what are the odds of pulling out two duff leads one after the other ?
(i need to start playing the lotto!!)

Sorry, I took long to anwer because I was in other city. Sorry for any miscomunications also, English is not my first language. The problem it's not the cable i've already tried that. I think the best thing it's taking the guitar to a technician, a luthier, since this prolem it's not so easy to solve. Thanks everyone that posted. Is a relief knowing that I haven't totally my new guitar right away.

PS. I have to buy a new jack or just fix this one?

If it is just as simple as i wire breaking off then it should simply just solder back on but if you decided to fit a new one there fairy inexpensive (about the same price as a set of strings!)
Good luck !

Alright then, I think i'm gonna fix the jack because is new. Then, I have to fix some problems on my acoustic guitar so I'm gonna fix everything at once.
Thanks for the helping hand.
