Anyone can carve their own plate, really. The tools in those photos were all I used, aside from some sandpaper to smooth the edges, along with the nice wide half round file in the picture.

Here's what I did to accomodate the neck bucker. I'm afraid the wider spacing on MIM body routes doesn't quite fit.

Not a job to do yourself if you're not used to using a router.

I prefer to just change the block, as the 6 point vintage synchronized trem is pretty good. On the left is the cast composit MIM block and on the right is the Callaham $55 block.

that's a good idea too and would save me some money. i still lean to replace the trem and block.

that's pretty interesting. mine came routed with HH so no need to do that on mine unless i get some HH's that are too tall for the cavities, doubt that will happen. i haven't used a router in years.

i'm gonna upgrade the bridge/trem/block, new humbuckers and upgrade the electronics. that will be a good improvement for the body. i decided to save for a new neck too in a few months. could have bought a more expensive guitar at first but, i think "she" she will sound closer to what my current ears are looking for.

btw, no reason to paint elec shielding in the cavities if using humbucker's is there? do most purist's frown on that practice? was that just an issue with the single coils?

enjoyed the images
