I've got a 1995 50th Anniversary MIM Sambora Strat. Once I replaced the excessively noisy pickups with the SA/SA/89 EMG's, I've been fairly pleased with the guitar overall with the exception of the Floyd Rose. The Foyd Rose is not that stable from a tuning aspect (I chase it all night long). Since the guitar was MIM, I'm not sure if it has a lower quality Floyd Rose? My questions are:
* Is there a replacement for a Floyd Rose that does not require major structural or cosmetic changes to the Strat?
* Or...would you advise replacing all original equipment and simply reselling?

Thanks in advance, I value your opinions.

More than likely that the knife edges on the trem, or the groove on the pivot posts are worn.
It happens to all Floyd Rose systems that get used.

Take the trem off the guitar and have a look where the tremplate contacts the tremposts.
Wear on either will stop it returning to pitch properly.

The Mexico ones came with a Floyd Rose II made cheaper. I would get a original Floyd rose. If you like it to float I would add a tremolo stop to it. Everyone is different

Van Halen reckons he used to go through a Floyd in 2 weeks.

Any suggestions for a replacement without significant Strat impact? I've searched the web for "Floyd Rose Replacements" - I'm not seeing much? :(

What do you mean by Strat impact?
It's a FloydRose II trem on there, judging whats for sale out there now. Is that right?

If I were planning on keeping the guitar for any length of time I'd invest in this

Floyd Rose has teamed up with TiSonix to develop the world’s ultimate locking tremolo. Featuring components formed and machined from Titanium. This bridge is striking in appearance and virtually indestructible. Amazing durability (tested in excess of 12,000 cycles with no measurable wear at the knife edges). All that and yet the tone is what will really get your game on. We are talking sustain and clarity on steroids. Titanium transfers sound energy with little to no distortion or absorption. That is if – and only if – you use the right alloys, amount of cold work (stress induced during forming) and heat treatment. The world has come to expect exacting standards from Floyd Rose. Expect no less when it comes to Titanium. Yes, the Titanium Floyd Rose is indeed beyond any measure, the world’s premiere locking tremolo.

Forget about the tone/clarity/sustain nonsense in that sales pitch. Floyd Rose obviously know that wear is a issue. Why they've decided to use more durable metal and made special mention of the knife edges not wearing on the titanium model.

Pretty sure the FLoydRoseII was a low sitting model. You may want to check whether the FloydRose Pro is going to sit far enough down. I can't see why it wouldnt, though may need some rear cutout to allow pullups. I honestly can't see that being an issue though. Looking at both types the rear of the trem looks identical. That's not the same as having em in your hands though. The pivot posts will be spaced the same. Floyd Rose use the same spacing for everything.

When I mentioned "Strat impact" I was referring to a replacement that might use a similar rout and hole pattern. I'd really like to use something other than a Floyd Rose - I'm not fond of the small tuning wheels (forever having to loosen up the nut to tune due to running out of screw on the small tuning wheels) , the string being held by screwing down an allen screw/block vs. thru hole stringing (I've had string windings separate from the string core). Setting up good intonation is a bear with the Allen adjustment screw directly under the string. Bottom line.....just not pleased with the FR. I will have to look into the new info you sent me. Thanks for that!
