Post subject: Strat's neck tells date? So what is this neck's date?

My strat has SN S918488 and at the base of the neck is stamped

D900 - ?18? maybe 5180 or 5189 ?
I'm trying to determine the date of this guitar. The SN narrows it down to late 70s early 80s. Any ideas?

So it´s a Santa´s neck......born on the 23rd of December 1978 8)
Now I am curious when the guitar has been assembled.......(Xmas Strat?)
