Does anyone know if Fender ever put Gold Lace Sensors and TBX circuitry in an American Series Stratocaster in 2000?

I've seen a couple of videos showing American Series & "new" American Standards with different flavors of Lace pickups. But I never saw Fender making an American Series Strat with Lace Sensors in 2000. They stopped using Laces after 1998 with the advent of their own line of Noiseless pickups!

joe - we asked for photos of this guitar in your other thread on it; someone did respond to your question about how to post photos: put them in a free account somewhere like phototbucket, then use the "Img" button in the "Post a reply" window to put them up.

I still think you've got a 2000 American Standard or American Series (depending on when it was made in 2000; the American Series came out in July that year) that someone dropped in a fully loaded pickguard from a Strat Plus but we need photos to ID your guitar. Fender had all but dropped Lace Sensors in 1998; they only used them on the Clapton, Beck and Guy Signatures and the few odd Strat Plus/Plus Deluxe/Ultras that made it out of the factory during 1998 and 1999 as Fender either filled orders from before these models were discontinued or they used up left over parts from their warehouse. However, those had all the typical Strat Plus/Plus Deluxe/Ultra features like the roller nut, locking tuners, etc. They just had 1998 or 1999 serial numbers.

hello;
six days ago, i found a beautiful standard US strat.
since then i haven't been able to put it down. we have made a song together, and i have never played a more responsive, beautiful, subtle machine in my twenty-seven years of playing.
i think it's a 2009 vintage, but i was so caught up in playing the thing that i didn't really listen to its history.
standard everything, with the sweet extra Beck-type tone control, and OH so delicate.
so many tones!!!
anyway....
i want to put a locking trem system on it, but i need some info about how to mount it.
who does good work in Tasmania... Australia?
and where do i get the bits from?
anyone know?

In order to fit a Floyd Rose locking tremolo on your American Standard, you need to perform a couple of alterations to the body.

My personal recommendation is to install a deluxe locking bridge assembly, which is similar in size and feel to an American Deluxe 2-point trem, except the strings lock into the bridge, LSR nut and locking machine heads. The bridge can be retrofitted on any Stratocaster or Telecaster guitar without performing any major surgery.

There are rumours saying this product was discontinued since 4 years... WRONG! The deluxe locking bridge is still in production (http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 1996510100) but not actually offered as an option on the American Deluxe Series and many Custom Shop guitars.

Yep - but only in 1989. The OP has a 2000 American Series modded to essentially replicate that 1989 model.

+1 (again) Here is what I have posted on my site:

Fender introduced an Deluxe American Standard Strat in 1989 and discontinued them in 1990—so they had a short production life of about one year. It is estimated that only 400 instruments were produced. They came with all the features of a Strat Plus, such as Gold Lace Sensors but no locking tuners or roller nut. They are some-what collectible and are sometimes sold, mistakenly, as a Strat Plus. (They will often have the E4 or E9 serial number too and many of the parts will be leftovers from the pre-CBS buyout). Over time, these may very well be quite collectible.

I am going to have to edit that because i know for sure Fender made more than 400 of these, as I get asked about this model at least once every 2 weeks and have owned several myself. Really all they are is an American Standard Strat with upgraded with Lace sensors. Now as more info has come to me I really doubt that they used much of any pre-CBS parts on these unless it was a pickguard or pots, or tuners,

A lot of folks must like "Yuk" - I've been getting a lot of compliments since I started playing this guitar out. Killer tone through my Egnater and JBL 812's. Probably why Bill Carson preferred Gold Lace Sensors in his personal guitars......Yuk!!!
