I found a Strat that I would like to buy. The owner says he has no idea which model it is but claims it is an American Strat. It's a beautiful guitar but I would like to know which model it is so I know if his asking price is reasonable.

It has a transparent black finish. I can't find another transparent or translucent black, American made Fender Strat anywhere on the Internet.

Any information would be appreciated.

fender did make an ebony transparent but i could not find it with a strat

I have seen a fender custom shop deluxe strat in that colour. It is at sweetwater.com in the gallery section under fender custom shop.

Yes, Fender made a Transparent Black finish. In fact one forum member (JasonSD) has posted his Plus that came with this color a few times. It was called Mystic Black for a while and then it was called Ebony Frost on some of the Strat Plus DXs. Here is a pict of his guitar:

when I bought my Tele Plus years ago, they had one in the ebony frost. I bought the crimson frost
