I've got an MG15 combo for practice. The overdrive channel is a little overdone IMO, but it's not too bad clean. The spring reverb is nice, much better than a synthesized reverb. The FDD switch is a nice feature, the amp sounds much better with it on. Definitely sounds like a Marshall.

The only thing I have right now is a Genz-Benz acoustic amp. So I would say anything is better for an electric guitar right?

I'm a no Marshall zone.

I did have one of those Gibson Goldtone's for a couple of years. That's a very, very nice amp.

Marshall's MG series is ok for apartment practicing. It generates the notorious Marshall sound at lower volumes, but begins to lose it's integrity at half volume. Personally, I use the Marshall AVT 150 stack (H+A) in my apartment. The advanced valvestate technology combined with the FX programs make it quite a versatile setup. It's a terrific amp that has one tube. IMO the only thing better is the JCM series. I love my Marshall.

Absolutely correct! Check this: http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... t=frontman
Hardly anything better to find for practising!

Cheers!

A nice, old inexpensive Marshall solidstate amp was the "Lead 12" (that first came out in '84, model 5005, I believe). You gotta find 'em on Ebay now-a-days, but they offer a great Marshall dirty sound.

I haven't used one, I AM thinking of buying one because a freind has one that sounds great (for practice) and he even totes it (the head) to gigs in case something happens to his JCM 800 because it will drive his 4x12 cab (obviously not as well as the JCM, but in an emergency, it'll get it done)
