Hi M_G: I'm late to this thread, but I am also in the UK, I happen to know about sourcing Schaller parts and I have four definitive possibilities for you.

1. Schaller are a bit quirky in their authorised dealer network. In the UK (and most other places) they have just one official distributor; they are Touchstone Tonewoods. Their website is a little, um, basic and also very annoying in its functionality, as you will see. Here is their page for Schaller locking tuners. What you want are what they call the mini-M6 "back locking" model:

http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/ttwp33.html

Since they are the authorised distributor if they don't show what you want (which they don't) you can ring them and they should be able to source it direct from Schaller. That's what their authorisation means.

2. You can talk direct to Schaller. Others here have done that and succeeded, but it doesn't sound like you are having much luck. You could always give them a phonecall - how's your German? From my experience I'd be amazed if you didn't find someone answering the phone who speaks good English, but you might be out of luck.

You know their website: I presume this is the model you are looking for. It says that if necessary you can order any combination of left and/or right tuners, so what you want is perfectly possible. Remember that if a dealer says it can't be done - it can:

http://guitar-machine-heads.com/hp32453 ... -Liste.htm

3. You can purchase from a supplier in Germany. Thomann is the obvious choice and they have a very big operation mailing all over Europe and they are easy to deal with in English. Here is their Schaller M6 Pin model locking tuner in chrome, though this is right-handed. You'll have to enquire about left-handed ones:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/schaller_m6lp_iklemm_ch.htm

4. In the US Stewart-MacDonald are the authorised distributor for Schaller. Although they are an ocean away their price is pretty competitive on this item and it is not unreasonable to buy from them trans-Atlantic, though be aware you will be charged sales tax on the purchase when it arrives. However, they are now comfortably way beneath the duty free limit so you don't have to worry about that. And Stew-Mac at last offer surface shipping in addition to air freight, if you are prepared to wait. Their air shipping with DHL is very good, often overnight. Here are the ones you want on their site - yet again you will have to enquire about left-handed, though again as an authorised dealer they should be able to order them if they don't have them in stock:

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guit ... hines.html

Or there's always Ebay.

One last thing. You do understand that even if you get that screwless pin type of casing you will still have to drill holes for those pins? And you'd better know how to get those holes in exactly the right place or your tuners will go on forever crooked.

Unless your previous tuners were the pin type too, of course.

If you need more help just ask.

Good luck - C

Ceri,

Yes, the OP's MIM Strat has two pin holes.

The problem is, all of the links that you and others (myself included) have provided are for locking Schallers with either a screw tab or single pin. I am willing to bet that the two pin version is unique to Fender. The OP may wish to contact Fender UK directly to find out about replacements. I am sure that there are left handed Strats that use the two pin Schaller.

I've dealt with them in the past, they told me it would take 6 weeks for the part to arrive, and they couldn't guarantee it would be the right part because they've had the wrong part arrive for someone else in my exact situation. (Bare in mind the wrong tuners have been delivered to me twice by seperate retailers)

2. You can talk direct to Schaller. Others here have done that and succeeded, but it doesn't sound like you are having much luck. You could always give them a phonecall - how's your German? Thomann sent me the wrong part twice :D First it was a right handed set, then it was a non locking standard set :D (you getting the feeling i'm a bit of an unlucky person?)

4. In the US Stewart-MacDonald are the authorised distributor for Schaller. The ones there are single pin mounts, i require the 2 pin mounts (it's what was previously used on my headstock) I've emailed them anyway seeing if they can help me out

Or there's always Ebay.

Hi Bluesky636: yes, I'm aware of it. However, the only locking Schaller type Fender branded tuners I can locate my side of the Atlantic are all right-handed, which doesn't help M_G any.

Personally, I'd have no worries about using the screw-tab type and just drilling the screw hole (split headstocks are the result of not drilling). Frankly, it is easier to get the tuners on straight with screws rather than pins because it is much simpler to get the hole in the right place. Nothing spoils a headstock's charm like a crooked machine head in a line of six!

However, I get that the OP wants exactly what he's set his heart on and I admire that. One last possibility is just to get the part number for the locking tuners on the left-handed Am Deluxe Strat and order them through an authorised Fender dealer. Leave it to someone else to work out the supply chain. Am I misunderstanding - there seem to be two part numbers on the third page from this link:

http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... A_SISD.pdf

Don't know which of those numbers is the right one.

Another option, anyhow.

Cheers - C

You're welcome - though thank me when you actually have the tuners in your hand. See the previous couple of posts.

I presume you're up to the fitting task? Or are you wanting those pin casings so that you don't need to bother measuring and drilling and such? If that's the issue help is at hand in various forms if you wish...

Cheers - C

Er... me too. How odd - it used to be here on this website and now I can't find it. Not everything has been finished since the recent website refit.

In any case you wouldn't be able to order tuners direct from Fender UK. You have to go to an authorised Fender dealer and place the order through them.

Now you want to know your nearest authorised dealer, don't you? Again, entering my postcode on the dealer page (click UK on the dropdown tab) is not helpful and may not be for you either. I suspect that database is yet to be finished.

Huh.

M_G, let us know approximately which bit of the country you are in and someone can probably advise you a good local authorised dealer. Not me tonight though: I'm off to bed.

Good luck - C

I have installed many tuners without drilling a hole for the locating screw. Either I have the touch or am just darn lucky.

If the tuners on the lefty AM Deluxe are like the Schaller lockers I have, the low E, A, and D posts are taller then the G, B, and high E posts, so yes, both part numbers are correct. I guess Fender just chose to break them apart so they could be ordered individually instead of as a set.

Did you try here:

http://www.fender.com/dealers/index.php

Select "United Kingdom" from the drop down.

Hi bluesky: yes, I tried that but it doesn't list most of the authorised dealers. I suspect the database hasn't been completed yet. For example I live in London, a city of 11 million with plenty of Fender dealers, yet that page finds none of them! :(

If M_G tells us which area he lives in one of us can point him in the right direction. Supposing he doesn't already know.

BTW: regarding drilling for screws, yes, I suspect you have been lucky! :) I've seen headstocks (not mine) split clean in half through people trying to insert screws without drilling first, and recently a Forum user here got a nasty crack open up in his beautiful new neck that way. It was solveable but better avoided. I'll spare his blushes and not post his photos.

Cheers - C

PS: bluesky - did you call yourself that after the Allman's number? Neat! 8)

Fender schaller locking tuners are the best. Do not buy anything at Guitar fetish everything there is low low low quality.

Here is a possibility, scroll down and you will see "left hand locking Schaller for American standard". They are selling them seperate for each position. It should fit Mexican

I am not sure if they are two pin but do not see a tab for screw. It carries a Fender part so I imagine its the real deal.

http://www.darrenriley.com/fenderparts.htm

From their feedback it sounds like they ship overseas.

http://www.darrenriley.com/feedback.html

I have not heard back from all my emails yet.

Be patient. I got lost in all the above posts. You still need help on this?

I would have tried the dropdown before I posted it, but I don't know any addresses in the UK. I live in Virginia, US of A.

Maybe I will drill the next time. Or maybe not. My fear has always been drilling clean through the headstock.

Nope, I once had a freelance photography business. My business cards were a blue sky with white, fluffy clouds.

Hate to disagree.

I have a set of their 3 on a side locking tuners on one guitar and they are as good as the locking Schallers I have on my Strat. For half the price. I also just ordered a set of 6 inline for my Ibanez. I also have a set of Fat Pat humbuckers that sound much better than the stock humbuckers in my Ibanez (which I am getting ready to replace with the GFS Filtertron type pickups). Oh, I have one of their steel blocks on my Strat also. Great stuff at great prices.
