Good evenin everyone.

I am absolutely at my wits end, on the verge of giving up. For the life of me i cannot find a set of LEFT handed fender/schaller LOCKING tuners for my mexi strat. It's been 4 months, my guitar is sitting there with no tuners and is screaming to be played.

It doesn't help that i am being so specific, i need the type that require no screws and have two pins, so that they slot right in.

Please don't take this as me being rude these are the only tuners i am after, as i want to avoid any drilling that would be required with other possible tuners.

I am in the UK, i've tried 2 guitar shops who have both attempted to order the parts and have recieved the wrong ones. I'm constantly on ebay and the internet and the only set available are in America and require screws.

If ANYONE can help me on my search i would be eternally grateful. The frustration this is causing me is unreal :D I just want to play my strat!

Thanks for your time.

The only thing I can find is these:

http://www.allparts.com/Schaller-Lefty- ... 74-l10.htm

To tell the truth, I installed the right handed version of these on my MIM Standard Strat and had no problems at all. The body of the tuner covers up 95% of the two holes in the back of the peg head, and I didn't even have to drill to install the hold down screws, they are small and sharp enough that I just drove them in with no problems at all. They look stock and work great.

Here is a set from GFS for 29.95.

They are for the 10mm hole like the MIM use, they are locking, and they can be mounted left or right, it just depends were you drill the mount hole.

I do not think they are made, I know what your wanting but the only ones I find have the single screw. Go to the Schaller website, none there. You might try the Spertzels.

Is keeping the standard tuners a problem, have they not worked well? I have locking FS tuners on my MIM and the only advantage I can discern is when changing strings.

You may have to use Sperzels. I just bought a set at Guitar Center. They're not left handed though I'm sure they make them. They are the type your looking for. No screws, just a dial pin. They're really nice.

Thank you so much for the replies :)

I don't mean to be so irritating, but i really don't want to drill holes into the headstock, hence the reason i'm so desperate for the 2 pin ones that require no screws. So that throws the idea of installing a right handed set on.

Also, i have seen a set of the exact type i am looking for so i know they exist. There are many examples on Schaller's site, he is the link just click the 'versions' tab and you can see how many variations they have.

To answer the question as to why i want locking tuners, there are a couple of reasons. I do personally believe that they improve tuning stability (i know it's a debated topic though), and the fast string changes are a huge benefit especially if a string breaks when playing live. Secondly, i'd rather upgrade as opposed to purchasing the same standard tuners that were on

Again, thank you so much for replies/advice.

I would love a set of Sperzels (best tuners imo!) however my headstock has 2 dial pin slots, Sperzels have one. :(

You have a MIM Strat. Not a Custom Shop Masterbuilt.

Just because Schaller makes what you are looking for doesn't mean it is readily available. You have already said that your guitar has sat unplayed for four months. If you would rather let it sit even longer in your quest for the "holy grail" instead of using what will work (left hand lockers with a screw tab) and that no one but yourself will ever know the difference, that is your choice. Seems to me like a waste of a good guitar, though.

Using a set of right hand tuners on a left hand guitar will look horrible. They would be mounted upside down and work backwards from left hand tuners. Bad advice in my opinion.

Then you have found that they are actually produced and you know the model number.

That would have been helpful data, but it seems not to have helped in your quest.

Why not email Shaller and them know of your situation and see if they can help you with a purchase?

Did this guitar not have tuners when you bought it?

I'm FULLY aware that i may have to grin and bare the fact i won't get what i am looking for. The reason i've posted here is a last resort thing.

In all honesty i guess i hate the idea of drilling into my headstock, purely on the basis that a mistake could be made

I've emailed Schaller several times and i can't seem to get a reply from them, it's always the same response telling me to call their number (they aren't based in the UK).

Yeah it had the standard tuners on it, which were fine until my little rolled the guitar off the bed and broke two of them off!

Like I said in my first post, I didn't have to drill anything. The screws drove into the wood quite easily. I installed the lockers and tightened down the nut enough to hold them in place and installed the screws. Took all of 15 minutes.

If you are that desparate, then perhaps you should call them.
