Yes, I really screwed up, I put my Stratocaster in my hard guitar case without removing the whammy bar, now it appears that the tremolo is rather bent. How could I repair this?

Can you post some pictures of front, side and the springs on the back ?
Mostly you´ve might have forced the tremolo springs.
If a string change and a few turns on the tremolo springs dont get your bridge back in place, you must consider a set of new tremolo springs, they´re cheap and easy to swap.

Hi Strangelove,

If you mean that the bar is bent, remove it from the Strat before trying to straighten it. Then just bend it back into place, using a padded vice or something similar to prevent damage to the bar and threads. DO NOT try to bend the bar while still in the Strat, it could break off. The bar will be weakened by bending, so replacing it with a new bar would be best. If replacing, make sure that you get the correct thread size for your model guitar.

Even in a hard case, it would take quite a bit of force to bend the trem arm. Did you have to jump on the case lid to close it? LOL. Just seems that something else would have gave, being the case padding or the trem springs, before the arm would bend. If it is the arm though, you can bend it back like stated above. My guess is that you stressed the springs, causing them to stretch. Does the entire bridge seem raised higher off the body?

Thank you for all your replies, I didn't really word the problem very well sorry. The bridge has raised, and yes I must have really forced the case shut without thinking. I think maybe its the springs. There is nothing wrong with the bar itself. Unfortunately, i cant take any photos of it.

Well then, you can take off the rear cover plate, and tighten the 2 screws on the claw plate ( the metal piece the springs attach to ). This will pull the bridge back down. Either this, or go buy new tremolo springs! How long did you leave the guitar locked away before you noticed this issue?

I locked it up for about half an hour. I think it will be fine. I put in the shop today, they're going fix it, and set it up for me too. Thanks for your replies! :D
