Hi,
I recently acquired an old case, it's one of the old strat/tele cases, with the fender logo on top....i THINK it may be from the late 70's, but I'm not sure. I did some research, and it seems to fit the bill for what they were making then. The logo is held in by 2 silver colored rivets, it doesn't have the underline under the logo, but it does have the trademark symbol and the "Made in U.S.A.".....the sides feel like real leather and the velvet on the inside is an orangey red. I'm just trying to pin down what this case is, when it was made, and whether its an R.I. or not....and the value...If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated.

Yeah thanks, that's actually the page I got my info from, but I couldn't narrow it down any more than possibly late 70's from that info...by the way the velvet is not thick like they explained the reissues to be...by the way, the insides of the latches say "Cheney England" on them.

I've looked all over, and can't seem to match the case up exactly with any series of years. i think MAYBE '76 - '80....I don't want to sell it as one thing and then have it end up being another.

I have that style case with my '79 Lead II; I believe they were used for the "student models" in that '76-'80 period so you would find them with Mustangs, Broncos, Music Masters and other guitars with that body shape. When the Leads came out in '79 they used that same case. Here is my guitar in it's case:
