I just purchased a 2000 USA Stratocaster equipped with 3 Gold Lace Sensors w/ TBX - Hot Rod or Lipstick Red... Are the pickups original or has the guitar been modified? Manufacturing label 0056229-999. Blue dot "AC" on the pickguard - Green middle pickup dot "C10-6" - Blue bridge dot "T10-7". I'm new to the forum - sure would like to know more about my guitar. Thanks in advance!

We need a bit more information and some photos would be really helpful. We at least need the serial number to try to date this out for you.

It really sounds kind of like a Strat Plus but they were officially discontinued in 1998 when the American Deluxes came out (or at least they were removed from the FrontLine catalogs in 1998). However Fender still shipped a few of them out through 1998 and into 1999 (not counting the ones from 1990 that accidentally had "N9XXXXX" serial numbers); I suspect they had parts in their inventory and decided to assmble and ship them out. Xhefri is the real guru of the Strat Plus/Plus Deluxe/Ultra models here; he should also be able to help you out.

If this really is a 2000 guitar with a Z0XXXXXX serial number then it is likely a modded guitar - like someone dropped a Strat Plus pickguard into a 2000 American Standard or 2000 American Series depending on certain specs (staggered-height tuner posts/1 string tree for the Series, equal height tuner posts/2 string trees for the Standard); the American Series replaced the American Standard in July 2000.

Email your guitars serial number to: consumerrelations@fender.com and they will tell you all about your guitar.

Many thanks, John and Chris!
The serial number is Z0140129. The guitar does have the staggered-height tuner posts/1 string tree configuration. I think it's Hot Rod Red, but I'm not sure. Maple neck, tuners resemble Chrome Schaller's. I'll try to post a couple of pictures soon. I did learn last night on the forum about the offset screw on the back cover, it's a USA if the offset screw is a known sign. Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated!

Pics will help, but from the serial number and the description it is likely a 2000 American Series Strat that someone put a Strat Plus pickup assembly (gold label Laces, TBX, etc.) on at some point.

You'll need to host the photos somewhere, Photobucket, Imageshack, Flickr, then copy and paste the photo's URL into the body of your post. [img]at%20the%20beginning,[/img] at the end. Flickr also has BBCode (bulletin board code). You just copy and paste that into your post and do nothing else and, voila, you are done. I think PB and IS have it also. :)

Cool - thanks for posting the pictures.

It is a 2000 American Series Strat modded with Strat Plus pickups/electronics. In fact, it looks like the pickguard is an American Series as well - they were parchment and it looks like there are shadows of the stickers that were on American Series Strats in their first year or so of production. It wasn't just a pickguard swap - someone rewired this American Series with Strat Plus Lace Sensors and the TBX tone control.

Thanks John for your patience as I got info posted, and your help! I strongly suspected that, but I wasn't sure. Next time it's due for a really thorough cleaning, I'll drop all the strings and look at it a little closer. To be quite honest,I'm so pleased with the tone and playability I may just be content with knowing what I know and not take a chance on messing anything up!! This is my first American Strat - it may just be that the quality and tone is just that much better than my MIM Sambora and Squire. The TBX adds the elements I was missing in the other two (bell like tones and sustain). Not to mention that the guitar stays in tune....whoo-hoo!!!
