Hello,
I'm looking for a wiring diagram for a American Vintage Hot Rod 62' Strat.
On the USA Fender website (the german site seems to be momentary out of order in the support section) I'ver found some PDF for a Amercian 62' Strat, but not for the Hot Rod Version. I need it for the Hot Rod because they have different wirings.
Can anybody tell me where I can have a look on the genuine wiring of this guitar?
I have bought one used with a modified wiring and want to bring it back to the original shape.
Apart from that ist is a wonderfull guitar! :D

kind regards,
Marcus

P.S.: please excuse my poor english....

i think its basically wired the same with the exception of a rwrp middle pickup and
tone control wired to the bridge pickup also.

If you follow the American Standard wiring diagram, ignore the 250k no load pot for the bridge/middle tone control, that should get you there.

Hello,
thank You very much for the answers! :)
I think my guitar is wired as a American Standard strat.Tone poti 1 is connected with the neck pickup, tone poti 2 is active for the middle and bridge pickup.
Tone poti 2 should be connected only with the bridge pickup by the 62 Hot Rod Strat. Unfortunately I don't know which cable(s) I have to remove or to change.
Ähm, I'm not well schooled in this.
The best way for me would be a picture or a diagram where I can look and compare with my pickguard.

kind regards,
Marcus

No the bridge pickups tone pot should work the middle pickup too.

Ok.
But in the product description -> specification of the Vintage Hot Rod 62' Strat, Fender writes that the middle pickup has no tone control, only the bridge pickup?

kind regards,
Marcus

They got it wrong on the 57HR. That was written Bridge no tone control on the switch diagram. I bought mine from new and it had a bridge tone control from new.
I'm sure a 62HR owner would have jumped on this by now, if I were wrong. It's been a while since I played one.

Where did you found a wiring diagram for the 57 HR? I only find a wiring diagram for a Non-HR 57?
Fender writes at the product page-> specification, that the 57 HR has a bridge pickup tone control. Has youre guitar a middle pickup tone control too?

kind regards,
Marcus

I downloaded it off this site years ago, before they were removed.

Why not just email Fender and ask for them to send you the diagram as .PDF?

I've written an Email to the Fender Support, yesterday.

Yes it's the '62 HR Strat, and one other thing, the stats on the HRs state that the back of the neck is finished in a matte finish, mine is not, only the back of the headstock is matte and the neck is a slick nitro,I've seen another post from an owner who said his was the same way..I haven't looked at the newer ones.
I bought mine from a guy who put it away new in the case with all the stickers and not a blemish on it,he did not remove a matte finish from the neck,he has a lot of money and will buy mainly RI Fenders and keep them for awhile and trade or sell...I don't see why because unless he gets them cheap he really can't be making anything on them, who knows, some people have more money than they need....I've bought two RI Strats from him in new condition for less than I could buy them in a store....they were only a couple of years old....that's good for me,I guess he has his reasons for what he does.

RS

Only certain customshop guitars get nitro finished necks. All the rest are urethane. It can shine or satin effect. Both cellulose and urethane can be sticky.

Lucky Man! :D
I've paid something like the price is for a brandnew guitar in the USA for my used 62 HR (2007) in Germany.
On the other site I've found my Strat in this guitar!
Since I own it, i can't put it down!
It's not THE Hendrix- or SRV- Sound, but playing these (and other) styles with this guitar is sounding pretty darn good. :D
But that's another story...

You mean my wiring isn't modified?
So much better!

kind regards,
Marcus
