Do I wring my hands daily in angst to assuage my guilt?

Nope.

Arjay

Yeah Arjay, but I would take one of your fakes in a minute, especially the sunburst with the bound fingerboard that's just gorgeous.

Indeed those are some very nice guitars, I bet they play and sound as good as they look. I love stratocasters, they're just like the little deuce coupe hot rods. You can leave them stock, trick them out, paint 'em and even build them from scratch, either way they're personal and pretty badass.

I Purchased a Dave Murray Strat from a Chinese website on purpose and compared it to my Genuine Murray Strat. Looking at the two models side by side, no visable difference ( See Pics ). Underneath Same woods are used and same pickups only difference being the tuners, bridge and volume tone controls. Even the Serial Checks Out to be a Genuine Strat... ( Probably sourced at factory or local music shop and mass producted on these fakes ).

cant work out how to upload a pic, if someone will assist me, I'll gladly flash off my fakes

That is supposedly a knock-off of a Fender Custom Shop Strat called the " Jaguar "
You can go to Alain's Guitarmotel and see the real McCoy.....
Did you really expect to buy the real thing for that low amount... :?: Come On.....

By Fake....It is used in too broad a term......A Fender Strat that has been modded with Fender parts or Licensed by Fender Parts is not a Fake Strat....It still is a Fender Product, but it has been changed from it's original model specs and therefore if put up for sale...It has to be revealed that it was modded and with what....Next it is up to the buyer to decide wether the ask price reflects the mods...or if it brings the value down....That is highly dependent upon wether it is a Fender Custom Shop, an MIA, MIM, MIJ/CIJ and whether that particular model was a full production or a very limited run..

Leo Fender was an engineer...could not play the guitar so he thereby relied on musicians to design his creations.....But he went one better by designing both the Stratocaster and the Telecaster as an instrument that a musician could tweak and replace worn out parts by him/herself in a few moments.....So everything on a Strat is and can be changed for the better or for the worse in some cases.....

As far as the Copies from China or anywhere else, they are Fake....a solid clue should be the same price for all pirate copies....But that is what China does....Knockoff pirate copies of renowned brands....

As far as why should a Fender Deluxe Strat from Fender be $1,800.00 and a copy be around $350.00 and play and look as well.....
(1st) It's a Fender and the company stands behind the product... (2) The real Deluxe will outperform the pirated copy in every way...(3) There will be no warranty with the pirated copy and Good Luck to you if you happen to be in the middle of an arrest of counterfeit goods...
Actually I have no sympathy for you because you bought a pirated product which is illegal in the US and around the world..

But returning to modded Strats, there is no problem with selling a Strat that has been modded,
You however cannot apply a Fender Logo and pass it off as such for resale, if your guitar is modded, you must inform the buyer.....

I myself did 2 Stratopartster rebuilds last year, this year I'm in the process of building Two perhaps Three from Genuine Fender necks and parts, but the bodies I am milling out myself from Figured Walnut and Figured Maple.....Will I keep them or Sell them... :?: At this point I am intent on not selling them at all, however I would consider selling after they are completed, but first I would have to know where I stood in the legal ramifications concerning these guitars...
It's easy enough to find out what the rules/laws are........

There are so many great preowned Fender guitars out there to buy from legitimate sources, I don't understand why anyone would buy the pirated junk which is priced at about the same as a preowned Squier or MIM FEnder.....

I've built two fake Fenders, but I never claim them to be the real thing.

The Tele is an Andy Summers inspired Telecaster with a SD Jazz HB and Fender Custom Shop Broadcaster bridge pickup.

The Strat is a '62 inspired Strat with Fender Locking Tuning keys, Custom Shop Texas Special pickups, a vintage Fender bridge and plastic parts.

I use Fender copeid water slide decals, but that because I feel wierd putting some other name on the headstock. It's a personal prefference.

They are great guitars, but I"d never try to sell them as anything other than copies.

Even though this was originally a Squier Standard Strat that I rebuilt using all Fender parts, would it be considered a " fake " ? I put all new Fender 250 K Pots in it along with a USA made, Fender Strat 5 way pup switch . The Pickups are Custom Shop 57/62's and I have a Fender " F " neck plate on the back heel along with a new set of MIA Roller String Trees on the headstock which were put on shortly after this photo was taken. I have no intention of selling it because it sounds so damm good and stays in tune with absolutely no problems at all. I'm just wondering if it would be considered a fake, that's all.

I built a Strat from other Strats I own. I'd say it's still ligit.
