If anyone has any detailed pictures of Fake Strats they've seen then lets have them. It seems that the market for Fake Stratocasters has somewhat blew up lately. I've seen numerous adds for these guitars and I'm really curious to see what they really look like when you get them. Thanks

BTW I'm not suggesting that anyone buy these knockoffs, I'm just sure some of you have and would like to see them.

Only ever seen one in a pawn shop, it was hanging up on the top shelf an at first glance it looked OK (thought it was a Clapton) apart from it weighing a ton a quick look over it an it was a obvious fake, sharp frets, cheep stickers on the pick ups, horrible an a disgrace to the Fender name.
The Stratocaster has to be one of if not the most copy ed guitar in history, not that is to bad of a thing, there are some really nice guitars out there based around the Fender, its just the cheep fake copy's that are trying to be passed off as the real thing thats annoying an there are lots of them about, you name it an there are fake imitations out there waring the brand name logo.

I've heard a lot about the Fake Stratocasters and the Fake Les Pauls that are out there. I've seen a whole slew of Fake LP's from a few years back. They seemed to disappear for a few years and now it seems that they are back up for sale. I still have yet to see any good pictures of a Fake Stratocaster though.

Look at the thread marked Real Fender - there's a fake Fender Strat for you..

Does this neck look suspicious to any of you? Looks rather odd to me! The logo seems way off and unrealistic...

Fake Strats and tele's - I made them--- some using Fender parts some not- Does that make them fakes? I'm not trying to sell them as real but "fake " can have a broad definition. If you played one you might not care if it's fake/ made from Fender parts and whatnot. NNDW's.

I recently had the misfortune of buying a faked '62 relic .... was happy with the guitar until I got a chance to play it through my own rig....which got me looking closer and closer at the guitar....got the guitar through Craigslist at a price which turned out too good to be true.

Saw the guy advertising basically the same guitar again and a mate rang him ... turns out he could get my mate "two or three 62 relics through his pawn shop". Of course we wanted at least three .... we caught him getting a delivery via USPS ... threatened him with the Police and got my $550 back.

Another friend was not so lucky bought what he thought was a '59 VOS 50th Anniv LP via eBay..... turned out to be fake, he's fighting with eBay and PayPal and his Credit Card company, used his CC to pay through PayPal. Looks as though he'll get his $2500 back ... will try to keep you posted.

In the meantime if you don't think counterfeit goods are destroying the resale opportunities take a look at dhgate .... I must have one of those Randy Rhoads VOS LPs at a 20th of the USA made price. Which begs the question why are guitars so darned expensive if it's possible to get a fake for $320 including, delivery, case, candy and documentation, from a country half way round the world....

I agree with you guys saying that some play just as good, I like someone being able to take the time and care to recreate the whole custom shop experience, I believe it makes your own guitar seem more personal to you. However I don't like people trying to pass them off as the real deal, I don't care how legit it looks sounds or plays, if it isn't real then it isn't real. With the history and legacy of the stratocaster there will always be fakes but people trying to pass of fakes as the real deal is gonna hurt the value of legit stratocasters everywhere. Some folks are getting too good at it and its getting pretty hard to spot a fake. Good pics keep em coming.

BTW I'm pretty sure that that's a fake neck. The decal is definitely not stock and the shape alone looks suspicious to me, therefore I would stay away from it if your looking for an authentic fender neck.

Do I wring my hands daily in angst to assuage my guilt?

Nope.

These three ain't Fenders either...... Ain't cheep copy's either  :D
The White Strat does have a Fender graphic on it an the other two have the Luther's name on it "J.Davey" but were all put together by the same guy.

Image

There is a fourth one (57 Strat) thats a parts-caster that i don't have a pic for at the min but is also wears the Fender logo but don't no much about that one, might be a genuine Fender neck etc
