ok so im gonna order from gfs, a trem block for my am std.
for 20 bucks well worth the try, right?
in the gfs website, they have 3 opyions with steel blocks.
mim 10.5 mm spacing, imprt, and mia 27/32 spacing
well i realize at gfs the usa is actually vintage correct not mia std correct, get it.

ok so i checked on the callaham website, 63 bucks.
they show

American Standard Strat to use american std enhanced
2-pivot bridge
2 1/16 string spacing

Made in Mexico Classic Player Strat to use mexican std enhanced
2-pivot bridge
2 1/16 string spacing.

did some measurements on both, they seem to be the same.
my question, do i order the made in mexico gfs steel block, given
pretty much the same specs?
worse case scenarrio, i can always place this block in the cp 60s if it doesn match up..
and order the callaham usa std block.

Not sure how you are measureing things (measure E to E spacing at the bridge saddles), but if you have an American Standard Strat, then you want the GFS USA spec block not the Import or MIM block.

see, i totally agree with you. however the confusing part is that cp 60s has a 21/16 string spacing as the usa std one.
and the 27/32 string spacing is for avri's

the usa gfs is for 27/32 string spacing.
that is what is really confusing me

Hi there.

With the MIA guitar, it is "More then likely" already a steel block unit, so there would be little to no gain in changing it out.
The MIM is "More then likely" a Zinc block unit. I replaced mine with a GFS brass unit, and I used the MIM unit and it fit like a glove.

Best to use the one that they recommend.

Let me say it again: If you have an American Standard guitar, you need to buy the GFS USA spec block.

hello i just installed the callaham bridge/tremelo system with block to my fender classic 50 series,.. it made a huge diffference .. great product.. and was worth the 135... personally, i didnt want to spend all the money, but without the complete system , there was always gonna be one more thing to improve,.. i did it and have no regrets... wonderfull upgrade, the guitar resonates so much more , it is unreal,..clarity.... i am extremely impressed..... not only sounds better but if feels solid/stable, way different feel from the stock, not that it was bad , it is this feels so much better... It is worth it .. to me at least.. I will be getting one for my other strat soon. I actually hit notes one the one with, and the one without, and the sounds rang out on the callaham bridge , where it was muddy sounding on the other, guess it goes , you get what you pay for,... i dont want to waste time/money/shipping costs/ disappointment, with the other, read the reviews, that might help you make a decision... callaham is seems to respect the products they deliver, and is not some junk knockoff garbage,,..i have seen the stuff on the other sites, and i rather pay for the piece of mind that i am getting a quality product....good luck on your mods

Exactly what guitar do you have?

Classic Players are made in Mexico. AVRIs are made in America. All American made Strats use 2 7/32" string spacing. Mexican made Strats use various string spacings. If you have an American made guitar, buy the USA spec block. Otherwise, measure both the string spacing from E to E at the bridge and the screw spacing of the trem pivot screws. All you need is a ruler. Its not rocket science.

Am Std Strat, before '08 has 2-7/32 inch string spacing, '08 and after has 2-1/16 inch string spacing. And, no the blocks in all American Strats are not the same, just because it has steel in it (magnetic), doesn't mean squat. The Am Std is a cast block, not CRS steel. The Am Std will benefit from a new CRS block (mine did).

thanks, i know how to measure. my measurements have been 2 1/16, my hr57 measures at
2 7/32. mine is a 2006 american standard strat.
i do all my setups, and pickup installs, but steel blocks im learning as i go.
so just have a little patience bill.

thanks shimmilou, its ferrous but not steel.
the reason why i decided to go for it, i got my am deluxe v neck, and hr 57, both scns. same gauge, basically same height. the hr 57 has an awesome sustain the deluxe has sustain but not the same.

Hi bluesstrattone,

I sent an email to guitarfetish, asking exactly what kind of steel that they use for their blocks, since I didn't see it on their site (just says "solid steel, lead free"). As inexpensive as they are, I can't imagine that they are 1018CRS as the Callaham is. I'm sure that the GFS is better than the stock import blocks shown in the pictures, but Id say not as good as the Callaham. Of course tone is subjective as to what kind of steel or other material is best for each person.

i might just order the one off of callaham considering they are more product specific, but will the gfs mim for the cp 60s to replace the zinc one.
